I had four windows in my NYC apartment and had lived in four countries at that point, so I used those four flags as curtains for the four windows. All four were red white and blue flags so they matched, which was nice (US, France, Norway, and Chile).

Welp, not officialy.

In the meantime one could use the UN flag which comes closest.

But tbh it should be more frightening to alien invaders.
Maybe with thermo nuclear explosions, tanks, dinosaurs, tornados, naegleria fowleri, blood and gore.

Nope.

Travelling through the States is a trip. You see the flag EVERYWHERE. I remember being on the main street of a small town, and there was a flag on every light pole. It wasn't even a holiday or special occasion.

To my knowledge noone in my family owns a flag or a similar symbol of our country (Croatia), unless you want to get really pedantic and count stuff like stamps or documents. People that have flags take them out for certain occasions like football matches, but otherwise don't display them.
Displaying a flag on your property or inside your house would get you very confused looks.

I have never bought a flag personally, but there did come a flag with the tiny apartment I rent. Can't be bothered to display the flag even on national day though. There is enough patriotism in my neighbourhood.

Opinions on this vary considerably between countries and regions. Travel the US and it's obnoxiously noticeable how often you see their flag.

I don't have anything displayed permanently. I have a Canadian jersey that I'll wear during the olympics and other international sporting events.

No. We've put one up in years past during Veterans Day (my father-in-law was a Marine). We don't keep it up all the time, though.

No. You really don't see this much in Canada at all. It's crazy going down to the US, especially smaller towns and seeing how almost everyone has the US flag waving.

When I was living at my parents place we always had a US flag on the front porch. My dad was a drill sergeant in the army and felt like it was the right place for one when he got out. Beyond that? I'm sure I must have a flag around here somewhere, but I ccouldn't for the life of me tell you where at the moment...

Canada Day would be the one day exception. Other than that, just government buildings. It's creepy how much the US displays their flag.

No. I see absolutely zero need to and nor do I see any reason to care. The most flags I've seen of late around here were England flags and that was because of the World Cup. I see the occasional Union flag out and about, but only in affluent suburban neighbourhoods. We simply don't have this built-in culture of proudly hoisting the national flag about unless it's a prestigious international sports event or if a semi-important member of the Royal Family turns up.

edit: I say this but I have a coffee mug with the Union flag on it

Yeah, agreed. Though I would mention, that aside from Canada Day, whenever there is an Olympic event, that is the other time to naturally see the flag. Otherwise, it's scarce.

Whenever I travel to the US, it always weirds me out to see them literally everywhere, and then you have people wearing flag hats, bags, t-shirts, etc.

It always made me think of people overprojecting and justifying/reassuring themselves in an odd way.

I'm not even sure if there's a single Irish flag flying around my town right now.

Our house has a flagpole. Can't remember a time that it was used that wasn't years ago.

Or maybe I'm oblivious but we definitely don't use it more than once a year, if that.

It's fairly common to see it in lofty apartments in NYC, usually hanging vertically:

I think it's a cool look especially if you have a very high ceiling.

I don't have one in my space though nor do I plan to get one.

No. Even during the 4th of July I don't bother with the flag. I don't like who's in charge of our country, where our country is headed, or how our country treats its people so I don't have a US flag.

I have an England flag in my room. There wasn't ever really a suitable perch for my budgie whenever he came up into my bedroom so I used the one I got in an England game. Never bothered to move it after he died. I like a good well designed flag even if I'm not jingoistic. I'd fly the black country flag even if as an area it leaves much to be desired for example, I think it looks cool

I find it weird to do so, so no.

Some people here garnish their Christmas tree with our flag. I find that even weirder.

Used to have an Australian flag hanging vertically on my wall at my parents home. I found it one day when I was working at the MCG. Not sure where it went though.

If I had another one lying around I might put it up, but I don't care that much to go out and buy one. I show my love for the country by paying my taxes.
