Ahem, so I think Valkyria 4 and Vesperia Remastered are going to be the two big JRPGs to watch this year. To see if Hype really does translate into Sales.

VC4 is the latest entry in a IP which was a trilogy of Flops that ended up becoming a Cult-Classic that ended up selling a Million+ on Remasters/Ports, and Vesperia Remastered, is, well, the Remaster of a Flop. And in both cases, these IPs have gone from Single-Platform to On-Fucking-Everything.

(except mobile, RIP)

I think VC4 will be a bit different. VC1 launched at a time when we still didnt get "anything" compared to now. Not saying the "drought" was there, but people still were a bit starved for new japanese content.
And it launched with a great price.

Guh, it's gonna be a chore finishing ELEX before MHW drops :\

Then I've got Yakuza 0 to look forward to after that. Those game will probably last me until Cyberpunk, honestly.

I was looking through Fallout 4 mods to see what I wanted to have before my next playthrough, and there's a mod that replaces Shaun with a giant Butterfinger candy bar. I'm not gonna install it because it's ridiculous, but I did favorite it and laugh at it for like five minutes.

Finally bit the bullet and ended up getting a new PC this week. After about 8 years, I figured it was time to retire my old system to media center duties.

While I've always built PC's in the past, Best Buy was having a pretty good deal on the Alienware Aurora R7 to compete with Prime Day. i7 8700, 16GB DDR4 and a GTX 1080 for $1299. I don't think I could've built a comparable PC for cheaper, so I went for it. So far I'm pretty impressed, except for the shitty 2TB 7200 w/ 16GB Intel Optane storage. Picked up Forza Horizon 3 and I'm able to play at 4K w/ Ultra settings on my TV comfortably.

Question for you all. Is it worthwhile to invest in a M.2 SSD if I have an older SATA SSD lying around? I'm tempted but I never really had a problem with the speed of my SATA SSD's before, so I'm curious what the actual perceivable benefit would be.

I just remembered this one too because it's in a bundle at Fanatical, I owned it before the bundle and it's basically level clearing not so much room clearing and has different classes and items. I liked it a lot but maybe you'll find it cool too

https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/nemesis-bundle-8
Is the bundle it's in

Watching the trailer reminded me more of nuclear throne tbh, but that isn't a bad thing. Thanks again for the recommendations.

How do I download an EU game that I already activated on my account? JaseC

Got it. Changed steam store country and logged in again. This is easily the biggest game I've ever downloaded.

I have an M.2, and it's neat just to have one at the very least. As you say, SSDs are fast enough that even a significant speed increase means only a few seconds. FYI, 256gb M.2s are about the same speed as SATA, it's only when you go 500gb+ that the density makes the drives faster than SSD, at least with the Samsung drives from a year back.

Yeah, I'm Day One on Two Point Hospital.

Phantom Doctrine is trailing right behind, but perhaps not on launch day.

I guess now that its a PC thread and not a Steam thread, there wont be any excuses to ignore next month's biggest PC release by far, as the old threads tended to do every couple of years :3

Please list me some showpiece games so I can feel great about my purchase.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Witcher 3
Mafia 3
Batman: Arkham Knight
The Crysis games and the Metro games are still pretty impressive by most standards
The new Tomb Raider games are still fancy
Hitman 2016 ain't bad
Doom, the Wolfenstein's, Prey, the Dishonored's all have their moments.

After that, I'm thinking of stuff like ABZU or modded Skyrim and Fallout. Stlyized or highly moddable. Or something like Total War: Warhammer if you want to really get something of the new CPU.

As a final thought, I'd say the thing that impressed me the most out of all that above is Batman: Arkham Knight. That was a very "next-gen" experience, particularly with zooming on character faces and the like.

Oh, you could try swinging Star Citizen too. Not sure how great you'd feel about that though.

I'd say heavily modded Skyrim but that will take 2 weeks to get the mods sorted....and another week to make sure everything is running right.

Thanks, some definite good ones on there. It's funny, I had kind of forgotten about some of those because I just basically thought, "looks good, can't play them though."

Has anyone from the US bought the Dark Souls III Season Pass from the EU Bandai store? Is it possible to do so with a VPN and activate it on Steam? That price point is really alluring.

The AI in PES BAL is such shit. The coaching AI is even worse. At 65 minutes if a league match is tied it goes to all out defense. In a knockout game it goes to all out attack. This wouldn't be so bad if the team AIs are matched but they are not so they get through ball breakaways and I got a bunch of guys just blindly firing loose balls up field.

And it doesn't take two-leg ties into account. You win on road 1-0 and are tied 1-1 at home and all the sudden all out attack at minute 65 WTF.

Did Tekken 7 have any good discounts pre-release on various sites?

I ask because I'm gonna get Soul Calibur 6 on PC and want to know if I can expect any savings.

Upcoming gaming events in August
EVO 2018 is Aug. 3-5 will mainly feature Fighting game announcements so we'll likely get a firsts look at G and prob. Sagat, some DB FighterZ news, and prob. one or two new video games get announced, who knows.
Quakecon 2018 is Aug 9-12 where we will get gameplay footage of some of Bethesda titles
Gamescom 2018 is Aug 21-25 and takes place in Europe which means we don't have to concern ourselves with stupid America time!

Also the new Ninja Turtles show is hot fiyaaaaa

toukiden continues to be a good companion while i watch league games, i thought i would be over it after completing the story, specially cos there doesn't seem to be much of a point to completing these missions and you can mostly afk and your party will take care of the monsters. i don't even know how to complete the two missions i have left since they barely have any indication of what to do, but i guess mashing buttons while i watch league keeps me awake and i'm so tired lately that if i'm not like actively doing something for a second i just go unconscious

NiePscd.jpg

also progressed a little bit more in battle chef brigade. still really enjoying the story and the match 3 gameplay, tho i feel this game has that usual problem of having its complex mechanics not feel rewarding enough to explore beyond the very basics. specially since there's a time limit you got to juggle with, i just feel like playing it safe and using simple mechanics as much as possible.

anyways, i still love the tone of this game, it's just so positive and nice

This is much better.
Man, this game holds up so well, and not just visually, it's a fantastic game through and through. The Zodiac Age version cements it as one of the best jrpgs for me.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to stop it from happening?
neNiNn3.png

No, I have one of those errors every time I shut down Windows - no clue what it's saying. You could try looking at Event Viewer, seeing if there's something listed in the default view (where it lists Critical, Error, Warning, etc.) for the time that popped, but no guarantee it'll show up. :/

Been playing through Double Dragon Neon and for the most part I like it. However I can't help but feel that there is something off about th controls: Namely the Crouch button. Direction+Crouch will initiate a roll, but it has a pretty slow start up visually, and while you will pull off a dodge to avoid attacks it looks and animates pretty sluggishly.
Furthermore there are times when the game seems to register an attack command pre-emptively: When you stun an enemy pressing Punch will knock them up, at times even when I just want to knock them up with a Punch, the game will think I entered the Punch button twice so a 2nd attack comes out that won't let me continue juggling enemies launched into the air.
I'm almost half way through but the 2nd Countryside stage is tough and I'm gonna do a little grinding for tapes and try it again soon.

DD Neon has a wonderful sountrack though, and I decided to buy it off Bandcamp
https://virt.bandcamp.com/album/double-dragon-neon

Will also play some DuckTales Remastered. My lappy has an Intel HD card so I can play the game using it to avoid a certain game breaking bug.

Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro has me so insanely hyped for some Samurai-action so looking for recommendations, any?
I've cleared Ni-oh.
Way of the Samurai series are worth looking into.

If you don't mind fighting games, check out the Samurai Spirits/Sho(w)down series

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/samurai-shodown-v-special

I don't think the Musou series are what you'd be looking for in a Samurai-themed game though :X
