This is me right now, I'll be playing some games on consoles and others on PC until the 4000 series most likely. The fact that consoles are now providing 60fps options is a huge deal for me. I won't play a game on consoles without it. Since my setup isn't consistently hitting 60fps with newer games now it's becoming viable to play that same game on console instead. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a good example. Not competitive and a controller feels great and modern consoles run it really well. I can get a shaky 60fps on PC or just play it more comfortably on a PS5 or xsx.1080 Ti owner here. I've also had the urge to upgrade several times to the 30xx series but whenever I try to, I cannot catch stock anywhere :(

Still plays anything at 1440p. AMD FSR might make it last for even longer haha
I don't run most modern games, but SLI support is so poor I doubt it runs them both often. I know I ran into issues with Unity games like Subnautica and The Forest. I think Witcher 3 utilizes it well with compatibility bits. Those are more or less the latest non-indie games I play.Does it actually use both GPU chips in games these days.
Or is it effectively running as a GTX680 now.
Used to have a 1070 Ti, which was a great card. I bought a second monitor which supports 1440p at 144Hz and suddenly it was just not good enough anymore. Managed to snatch a 3080 FE though, so I'm kinda fine for a while. Still need to upgrade my CPU next (rocking a i7 6700 lol).
Definitely gonna wait and see how Alder Lake performs. Got my CPU for 5 years now, so might as well wait a bit longer. I'm just jealous of how those modern CPUs, like those Ryzen ones, performs in games with those 1% and .1% lows. My 6700 has a lot less consistent framerates in triple A titles. While your 6700 is def a bottleneck its still Ryzen 5 3600 levels of performance, so getting to 120fps shouldnt be all that hard.
Youve got time to wait for Alderlake and PCIE5/DDR5 before you'd "need" to upgrade for high refreshrate gaming.
I mean, five years later and they're literally selling for the same price as they launched at. Of course, I can't actually sell my 1070, though, unless I want to pay an even dumber price on the upgrade.
Eyyyy, good move. Welcome to the FOSS side. Have you checked out Proton at all? It's insane how many Steam games work on Linux out of the box now.Rocking a GTX 560 SOC. Yeah, haven't played a game on PC in a long time. Also switched from Windows to Ubuntu because gaming was really the only reason not to do that back in the day.
970 for me. I fell off PC gaming though so it's rarely used and I don't plan to upgrade or get a new gaming PC.
Nah, the gtx 1060 is from around that time with similar performance to rx580Eyyyy, good move. Welcome to the FOSS side. Have you checked out Proton at all? It's insane how many Steam games work on Linux out of the box now.
I'm still rocking an RX580, which I think is from the same period? I would have upgraded my whole PC this year, but we all know how that turned out.
That's what I meant, rx580 is of a similar vintage to the GTX 1000 series. I should have been more clear that I was moving in to the main topic at hand 🤣Nah, the gtx 1060 is from around that time with similar performance to rx580
Still on 1060 here. Seems based on this percentage, I'm a basic bitch.A lot of people I'm guessing. Like, these are the most common cards of Steam users, in order:
