QAnon Supporter Asked Authorities If He Was Being 'Duped' After Expecting Pence Arrest at Insurrection:

Testimony at a detention on hearing on Tuesday detailed what Jensen allegedly thought would happen on Jan. 6 in Washington D.C.—and the FBI said he asked investigators if he was being "duped."

"He said he went to DC to receive big news from Donald Trump," testified FBI Special Agent Tyler Johnson, according to the Associated Press. Trump notably gave an incendiary speech in which he continued to lie that he actually won the 2020 presidential election and that it was being stolen from him. He urged supporters to "fight," falsely claimed Vice President Michael Pence had the ability to unilaterally reject Electoral College results, and falsely said he would go with his supporters to the Capitol.

The defendant allegedly maintained that he still believed in QAnon, and that the FBI and CIA were corrupt, but even so, he asked if the news about the arrests of Pence and members of Congress was legit.

"Am I being duped?" he said. "Can you guys let me in on that if you know those arrests are real?"

One Iowa man in Capitol riot released, other remains in jail

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A right-wing conspiracy theorist from Iowa who was among the first to break into the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 remained in custody Tuesday after a court hearing where his attorneys asked a federal magistrate judge to let him go home until his trial. Douglas A. Jensen, 41...

Douglas A. Jensen, 41, appeared in court for a detention hearing via video from jail in Des Moines on Tuesday.
A grand jury indicted him on six counts, including obstructing law enforcement during a civil disorder, resisting Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman, violently entering and remaining in a restricted building, and disorderly conduct.
-------------------------
FBI Special Agent Tyler Johnson said Jensen in an interview two days after the incursion said he believed once inside the Capitol he and the others would witness the arrest of Vice President Mike Pence and members of Congress.
"He said he want to DC to receive big news from Donald Trump," Johnson said adding that he specifically reference the storm which he believed was going to include the arrests of Pence and certain members of Congress.
"After they broke in thought the arrests were going to start," Johnson said Jensen told him in the interview.
Jensen described himself to the FBI agent as a true believer in QAnon, the apocalyptic conspiracy theory that he follows. He said that for about four years he has spent hours on the computer after work reading the material from QAnon and similar websites.
Once Jensen returned to Des Moines from Washington and saw himself in the television coverage he told the agent he decided to walk six miles to the Des Moines police station and turn himself in.
He admitted he still believes that the FBI and the CIA are corrupt and that the QAnon conspiracies are real, however Johnson said at one point in the interview Jensen asked a question.
"Am I being duped?" he asked the agent. "Can you guys let me in on that if you know those arrests are real?" he asked in connection with Pence and the members of Congress.
Bruner said Jensen should not be released because he still believes the conspiracies and cannot be trusted to return to court when ordered.
His dangerous beliefs "make him a danger locally and on the national level," she said.

Doctor that promoted false hydroxychloroquine claims arrested in connection with Capitol riot

The Justice Department said in charging documents that it had charged Simone Gold, head of America's Frontline Doctors, with violent entry, disorderly conduct and entering a restricted building. John Strand, the group's communications director, was also charged in connection with the riot, with the Justice Department including images of both inside the building.

Gold confirmed to The Washington Post on Jan. 12 that she was present at the riot and does "regret being there," but told the newspaper, "I can certainly speak to the place that I was, and it most emphatically was not a riot." However, the affidavit indicates that a video of a police officer who was pulled down by a member of the mob during the riot landed in front of Strand and Gold.

Awkward.

I believe this is the guy leading the mob that officer Goodman was trying to stall and divert. Glad he was caught turned himself in, lol.

Agents find sniper rifle, stash of weapons in home of "Zip Tie Guy" (And he had a duffle bag with guns in it stashed at the capitol grounds)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WMC/WSMV) - Federal agents claim the cell phone video Eric Munchel recorded of himself taking part in sacking the U.S. Capitol is being used as evidence against him, a federal detention memorandum shows.

That memorandum, obtained by our Nashville affiliate News4 Investigates, was filed as an attempt to keep Munchel in federal custody. It also details how federal agents found 15 firearms in his apartment in Nashville - including a sniper rifle with a tripod.

In addition, the filing claimed Munchel stashed weapons outside the capitol before entering.

Seems like he might have used those guns on the people he wanted to zip tie. The whole article is wild with what they have pulled from his phone.

Not directly related to this but I love seeing conservatives on FB post bad tweets made by "liberals" that possibly violate TOS and getting enraged that they aren't banned.

One I've seen that is being spread by I guess Babylon Bee (or "NotTheBee", I assume their news branch) some New York Times opinion columnist who is a moderate working for a Reagan-created think tank make a poor, sarcastic joke.

It's kind of sad to think this is a gotcha moment. Reminds me of how conservatives always wanna cancel Bill Maher like it'll be a major blow to the left.

Americus attorney William McCall Calhoun will remain behind bars for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol after a federal magistrate judge refused to grant him bond in a hearing Thursday in Macon.
Calhoun was among the initial group of rioters who breached the Capitol and he posted photos of the chaos on his social media accounts. In an interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution two days after the riot, Calhoun described the mob as "patriotic," but federal prosecutors argued that, because of his actions and his violent online rhetoric, he posed a danger to the community.

Magistrate Judge Charles Weigel agreed, citing Calhoun's conspiracy theories about the "deep state."

"He has been corrupted by or seduced by dangerous and violent ideology that considers the United States to be in a state of civil war, that considers every Democrat to be worthy of execution, that considers every member of the government part of a deep state," Weigel said, according to reporting by the online legal news source Law & Crime...

"The Deep State cannot stop us," he wrote on Parler, a currently disabled social media site where many Jan. 6 rioters posted their exploits. "They learned that today when we stormed the Capitol and took it. The word is we're all coming back armed for war."

Calhoun is charged with entering a restricted building, making a violent or disorderly entry into the Capitol, and obstructed an official proceeding. He faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. He was represented by a public defender because he did not have the money to hire his own attorney.
