I have a faux Shinra ID with Shotgun on it, she's the best Turk.This is a new continuity, Deepground might not be what it was before.
A proper 'Genesis' might not even exist.
I'm kinda happy they're not ignoring the Compilation. This is a amazing opportunity to use content from Before Crisis and other good stuff, but people like to act like there's only Genesis and nothing else.
I hope there's a quest where you can battle with BC Turks in later parts, it's such a good concept to throw it away like that.
If nothing else, I liked how Last Order did Zack's death the most. It was the most sudden, brutal, and accurate. SOLDIER or not, bullet to the head, you're dead.
All the appearances so far could be chalked up to Cloud hallucinating, though. I think it would be a drastic and detrimental change if a physical Sephiroth that everyone can see shows up before Shinra HQ. For one thing it deflates the impact of that part substantially and the Sephiroth you chase around is the headless body of Jenova, so it wouldn't make sense for a physical Sephiroth to be roaming around until after it breaks out of its tank.
Can anyone tell me without spoilers what kinda of info they managed to datamine? Was it just something like number of bosses or location names or something more complex like story beats or maybe even where the game ends? I would look it up but I'm afraid of big spoilers.

1) "Living Legacy" is a crisis core line, no? So they may be canonizing Zack's heroic, drawn out death for this remake continuity.
2) Hojo flat out says Cloud wasn't in SOLDIER, the OG game hadn't hinted at that this early, has it? Everyone knows Aerith dies, but not everyone knows about the Cloud SOLDIER twist, shame they kinda ruin it so early.
3) Did this user really self-request a ban, or was he ...."got" for posting this stuff?

It's quite a bit. Modes, file names for enemies, weapons and party members, the title of every chapter of the game (giving big hints on what happens when), tutorial text explaining lots of info... Way more information than should ever have been included in a demo.
The big spoilers come from some dummy images/concept/placeholder images that reveal plenty of things not revealed in trailers.
tangentially, Hojo seems to be randomly attacked by the black ghosts created for Remake. What kind of goofy nonsense are they up to? lol

Didn't put that together myself! But now that you mention it, it seems like Sephiroth needed to shut Hojo up before he told Cloud the truth. Sephiroth still needs Cloud until he gets the black materia.
That and iirc Sephiroth hates Hojo. I could see him trying to off him.
I'm off "work" here for a few days since I have a friend visiting from out of town so I'm not totally caught up on stuff in this thread and it's possible this reply is outdated. But honestly, the state of your concern is pretty much what I've expected the game to be ever since we found out what percentage of the plot it encompasses. No matter how many times that Square insists FFVII-R Part 1 is the length of a mainline Final Fantasy game, I'm going to remain highly skeptical until proven otherwise. I know it's a bummer piece of advice, but I'd suggest keeping expectations super low on this front.
(Again, maybe more has been uncovered by now showcasing that there's plenty more content than the chapter titles suggest. I'm running on the state of the thread as of this post of yours!)

Huh, they're making Hojo more evil. In the original he was just a nutjob that didn't see Aerith as a person and just wanted to breed them out of scientific curiosity and create an ancient that could live a long time. Now he straight up knows what he's doing is evil and specifically wants to psychological scar her as a form of interrogation.
IIRC, G types were specifically from the branch of the Jenova project that birthed Angeal and Genesis. So yeah, compilation fuckery here we goooooo
The Arbiters of Fate sound like such a needless addition. They're manifestation of the will of the planet and are helping Sephiroth I assume either because he's taken control of the Lifestream or the planet wants to use Sephiroth to wipe out humanity. Aerith takes control of the arbiters after she dies and twists fate to save the world.

After you meet Red XIII he explains that they are the will of the planet and are drawn to people who attempt to alter destiny's course and prevent them from doing so.
That's stupid, the whole thing feels unnecessary. That said, I'm relieved because I was worried they'd be something even worse. The speculation that they'd somehow be involved in Aeris not dying had me worried

I think they will ensure she dies like stopping you from helping her. But in turn it let's her take over in death, saving everyone and changing fate
The part about Aerith taking control of them was speculation on my part. I'd assume since they appear to be aiding Sephiroth and are attacking Aerith, they'd make sure her death happens. And her death would need to happen because in the original she basically became the will of the planet and stopped the planet from trying to use meteor to kill humanity. It seems like they're trying to dumb the plot down so that people understand the ending.
Or maybe they only appear to be helping Sephiroth, but they know Aerith summoning Holy and becoming god of the planet is the only way to save the world. That would be even worse.

Neat little references, my money is on enemies to fight in the combat simulator.
the original game was linear as all hell until Disc 3, and even then it was only open to sidequests you didn't bother to complete during Disc 2.
linearity isn't a bad thing
Its going to be inserted into this remake series, watch. Trim the fat, and you have at least 10 hours worth of story content from Crisis Core to incorporate. My only hope is its done better.
Literally this. The game does NOT have a multi-narrative/goal structure.
You literally go from Midgard-> Kalm -> Junon-> Costa Del Sol etc et etc because you need something in order to get to the next place, be it a vehicle or item. And it works for this game.

At the same time, the illusion or appearance of openness and nonlinearity goes a long way. Yeah the progression of FF7 (as with most RPGs) is linear for a long time, but being able to go back and forth to areas means a lot. It's why I think FF13 was so criticized - its linearity was incredibly blatant.
