One of the best RPGs of all time for me. So yes. I do like it.

Overall, yes. The combat is fantastic and the game has a style that is nearly unmatched (menus, music, etc.). There's way too much padding though and I think some of the writing is pretty bad.

One of my favorite games of last year, despite my issues with it.

Its one of the best JRPGs ever made. That said, I played it in Japanese, so I'm sure the translation issues significantly hampered enjoyment of the game when it was released in the West.

It's a great game, but it gets a little long in the tooth and some characters (Haru, basically) feel inconsequential and add little to the game.
There's been a whole thread on Haru with plenty disagreeing with that takeaway and pointing out why. The only concession is that they could've and should've brought her in earlier in the story.

Not really. The worst of it was during the Kamoshida arc at the beginning of the game. The rest of it seemed typical for an Atlus localization, minus the dumb decision to make the VAs say last names wrong because that was how Atlus Japan thought Americans would say them.

Don't just like it, I love it. My 2017 GotY and that year was damn STACKED.
That Joker announcement for Smash Bros., dude...I needed a good 30 minutes to calm down.

I like it. It's pleasant enough but not much more. The cast are ok (Ryuji is unlikable in the main story but I'm glad I did his social link). The soundtrack and alotta the designs are great. There is a lot of patience this games expects out of you though.

Easily the best game of the generation to me and probably my favorite game of all time. I fucking love Persona 5.

Gave it 30 hours but couldn't get into it. The weird translation kind of kept me at an arm's length, but the overall structure of the story is what really pushed me away. Small spurt of development for a new character, hours of dungeon crawling, resolve the situation even though the character has already changed, and then move on to the next, unrelated person. I was at least intrigued by Makoto since she was the only character who had any sort of continuing story building up over the course of the game, but I was already too far gone by her dungeon. I think I also had just reached my limit of that particular style of dungeon crawling; I thought I was ready for more, but I replayed 3 and 4 in the year leading up to 5 and may have inadvertently burned myself out on it.

I'll give it another shot someday. Even if I just bump it down to the easiest difficulty to blow through, I at least want to see the story through. But yeah, I would be surprised it it ever resonates with me like 3 or 4.

It's one of the best games of this gen.

Agreed and one of my favorite games ever. It does so many things right and IMO the only thing it doesn't do well is that it's too short :P. I absolutely loved the game. It was my first Persona and I enjoyed it so much that I went and bought a Vita to be able to play P4G.

Plus that soundtrack!

Played through P3 and P4 multiple times, and P5 is still my favorite of them and despite its' flaws, it might be my favorite game in general honestly.

I liked it enough to finish it. I don't like it enough to finish it again.

Unlike P3/4 which I've played through multiple times. Even if there's a port/revision, I don't want to play P5 ever again.

Sure. And I don't agree, I don't think she added much to the game at all. Maybe if she had been added in earlier in the game she would've felt like a more substantial inclusion, but they also could've just removed her entirely.

I loved it to begin with, then roughly half way through i realised how repetitive and how much of a chore it had become.
No other game fills me with dread more than the thought of going back to this.

Not so much. Game was entertaining, the soundtrack was top notch and the gameplay was good, but the issues with the story, characters and pacing puts this game on the bottom of the modern Persona games.

Honestly, unless Crimson or whatever it is called fixes many of its mistakes, I don't see myself replaying this game, unlike P3 and P4.

And then the personal motivation to target Okumura specifically would've been...? Not exactly anything at stake/a reason for a deadline with him otherwise. Removing her entirely would've also meant less options among party members in combat, her Psy and gun skills making her quite useful. And with her Confidant being one of the best ones in the main group, omitting her would've been even more of a shame.

For a game that is as long as Persona 5 already is, I think the entire Okumura portion could be removed entirely. That's true about Psy skills, but considering how useful they are and how long it is before she joins the party you already have those skills covered by the MC.

The game would be fairly different without her, I just think the game could've used some trimming in general and that section of the game is the most obvious place to trim.

I'm starting to notice several flaws regarding the cast, homophobic bullshit, plot holes and the awful pacing of the game, so I went from "it's pretty good!" to "I could have invested these last 95 hours on something worthwhile".

Aside from the art and music, I don't like the game anymore, but I understand why it's still so popular.

Persona 5 is fantastic. It probably could have been edited down a bit, as it drags in the latter half, but it was still a really good game.

Except the Okumura portion
is specifically the one where the Phantom Thieves start to seriously question what they've been doing and where public opinion begins to turn on them after their popularity had been on the rise. Getting rid of that altogether would once again lead the story they told to no longer work.
Psy skills are no more or less useful than any other element in P5, with enemies weak to it being quite common from that point onward. And the point of having dedicated users of specific elements in the party is to conserve resources for Joker when possible.

they choose to target okamura because of a poll on their website.

It's good. It's not great, and suffers from moderately poor writing and abominably terrible pacing and repetition problems even for a JRPG, but it's a solid entry in the series with exceptional art direction and music.

That story beat could be done in many ways.

I did but it was pretty laborious. Outside of the dungeons which were vastly improved everything else seemed off. Also them not taking queues from SMT 4/A on the fusion system was a huge disappointment.

They did, yet again that doesn't give them a deadline where anything personal is at stake. They could've just as well gotten around to it whenever they felt like it, rather than making him an immediate priority.

And why doesn't it?
That story beat could be done in many ways.
Yet they didn't, and as such getting rid of what they did go with only leaves a void that has to be filled by a hypothetical scenario in its place.

It's fantastic in the art and music department, but IMO the game is crippled under the mass of all its systems, and the writing is devoid of charm. The game blows its load on the first villain, and they become more and more comically dumb as it goes on. While the characters of Persona 3 and 4 became flanderized in the spin-offs, it almost felt to me that they were already there from the get-go in 5. I just really struggled to stick to it. Funnily enough, it started to suck me in again around the end of the casino palace, but that hinged on the complete contrivance of
your character being in on a plan to trick Akechi, one that you, the player, doesn't know about until after the fact.

I like it, and it breaks my heart that I don't love it, but I don't see myself going back to it unless it gets a pretty considerable rework in its re-release.

Yes I like it. Persona 5 is a good game with flaws. I found it dragged at times and the story and character arcs did not always gel with me given the themes that were presented. Some pretty sexist and homophobic jokes too. The presentation, gameplay, the main cast and story for the most were good
