Don't state political opinions as an athlete says athlete making political opinion known.

Many people really aren't aware what counts as political speech. This will never get fixed.

This from a man who once tattooed the names of 50 homeless persons to bring attention to the problem.

When people say this, it's usually because they don't like what the guy is saying.

And knowing the things Lebron has said....

Fuck off with that shit, Ibra.

LeBron doesn't, but Ibrahimovic needs to

How many people now have told Lebron to "just stick to dribbling"?

I'll never understand this way of thinking. Be informed with what you are talking about and use your platform. It's how you give back to society.

Why do people say this stupid shit? We have freedom of speech, and if a celebrity wants to discuss their politics in an open environment, it is their right to do so. Fuck off.

His statement shows that he's an offended racist.
He's rich, he doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt.

LeBron agrees with him when it comes to making money off the Chinese. Both of these guys are hypocrites of the worst kind.

We should be to talk about any political or social topic if we want to, that includes multi-millionaires. Except for concentration camps in China, then we need to listen to Lebron and shut up about it. There's just no place for it, as Morey learned his lesson well last year.

BIPOC athletes and celebrities have a massive platform in the US that isn't afforded to BIPOC scholars or leaders. So, if they choose not to speak up the message they are conveying never gets out to the masses. That said, it is fair to say that they shouldn't have the burden to do so and they often end up looking like hypocrites when choosing not to speak up on other issues.

Counter point, if you have the sort of status LeBron has then you have an obligation to be a role model to those who idolize you or at the very least to those who are your audience. This can include highlighting social issues that need more attention.
Using celebrities to push a message is nothing new, but suddenly it's regarded as distasteful by some because the message is about marginalized groups.

Yeah LeBron should show up and be a role model. It's sad he doesn't wanna do that towards the CCP and marginalized groups in concentration camps.

What is happening between Ibrahimovic and Nike?

What if Puma’s behind it?

Kinda weird twist. Nike is a huge lebron sponsor, basically lifetime contract
Zlatan recently ditched Nike and kinda needs a shoe sponsor since he's 39 and on his last legs and will probably need to retire or play in the US/Chinese leagues soonish
He has scored 14 goals in 13 Serie A matches this season. It looks like he could easily do two more years, as crazy as it sounds.

This take is nearly as bad as Ibra's.
So you find someone discouraging free speech and the right to argue for equality to be roughly on par with not knowing an athlete? That's sure an opinion.

Lebron has mostly spoken about issues that matter and are important and this jackass trying to stifle that is pretty fucked up. With that said, Lebron has expressed similar sentiments about not rocking the boat when it comes to China so he's certainly pretty flawed when it comes to this conversation as well.

Whenever somebody says something like this my default is always that they don't like the politics or the activities of the person in question. Like if he doesn't want to get into politics why even criticize lebron. Just shut the fuck up and don't say anything if that's what you believe

It's a weird statement from him since he has been fairly political almost his entire career. He's also been outspoken against racism in Sweden in general and in football in particular.

A celeb should have the option to say whatever they want to a certain extent. No one likes the "shut up and dribble" types. However, I will say I don't like when people attack celebs IF the celeb decides not to give their opinion on a certain topic and are just living their lives.

We are 2 steps away from "racism was solved in Europe what is wrong with America" from this guy
This line of thinking is strangely common from western counties outside the US looking in. Would not surprise me if that was his point.

Still LeBron is a hypocrite given he is unwilling to speak up against the CCP. I guess soft targets that don't impact his bottom line are the only tbings that matters.
