Why is it always the Democratic party that needs to mend bridges and make peace?
I'm sorry, but those 70 million people will not lose a single damn thing from progressive policies, hell it would only improve their own quality of life.
POC and LGBTQIA+ people don't need to put up with this bullshit so white Americans can be friendly with one-another.

When I voted for Biden in this election I did because I believed that he would make every Americans life better. Trump supporters are voting for Trump because they believe that he will harm the Americans they don't like. Those two things are not comparable or equal.
In closing Trump voters can eat shit and I hope they choke on it.
Attempting to directly change the mindsets of Trump voters is just a time-wasting, fruitless endeavor. Though I'd argue that provocation (for anyone looking to go down that road) isn't going to help things either.
Policy that benefits the majority of Americans -- progressive economic policies -- will do a lot more towards healing than speaking to the right's better angels. Give them a healthy economy, great health care coverage, access to good education, and a reformed improved police institution (whilst demonstrating healthy patriotism); basically take away the ammo for why a Dem-run govt isn't the way forward, and maybe we have a shot.
But I don't even see that happening. Not with a fractured, heavily partisan Congress.

The "fears" of Trump supporters have always been bigoted, false bs they were force fed by the President & Fox News like BLM activists coming to kill them for being white or abortion doctors slaughtering their kids or Dems creating concentration camps for Christians or Biden jailing people for not using the right pronouns for trans people. This is shockingly naive. I seriously can't imagine paying ANY attention at all and thinking this is a possible path forward.
I might be willing to forgive some of the 63 million people who voted for him in 2016 when there is NO reason to do so. No one should entertain the thought of forgiveness to those 63 million if they've been on the receiving end of the the fear he's manifested. For this election? Yes, fuck them. They've been informed, seen the damage he's wrought, and supported the thought of 4 more years of damage to country, allies, human rights, and the environment.

They don't deserve sympathy. It's an infection that needs to keep being fought against, not something that's just gone because we got a new president. They would be a hundred times worse if Trump won again and would never call for Unity. They can fuck right off.
Something I've cone to terms with in my limited life experience (not just politics but in general), if you try to turn someone being toxic by being comforting or accommodating to them in an attempt to win them over, it doesnt work. They just hide their real thoughts and take your niceties to mean approval.
It needs to be made absolutely 100% clear that voting for Trump, believing in his ideas and his platform are morally and ethically God-awful and inhumane.
That does not necesarily mean scorched earth but it means dont forgive someone who doesnt change. Dont be nice to someone still waving a Trump flag in their yard. When someone is open about their abhorrent views dont pretend like its live and let live.
