I was too. It's a really neat and fun series of missions, with a decent storyline to boot. I found the hunting game addicting.I'm really invested in helping this mountain village with its bear problem.
Always good to find someone who enjoys Saejima part in 5 :)I'm amazed by how much content is entirely optional in 5. I believe at this point I can progress the story whenever I want but I'm really invested in helping this mountain village with its bear problem.
ノシ Here...since Ichiban is supposed to finish his jail time and get back to kamurocho in 2018 accoring to the trailer/prologue.Do any of you expect Shin Yakuza to release this year? We'll undoubtedly get some announcement and info on the game but with the remasters coming out i'd think they will take their time with it.
Even when he is peeing ;pSo I'm finally getting started with this series with Zero and so far I'm definitely enjoying it.
Kiryu is pretty damn entreating so far in just how intense he is about everything regardless of how minor it is.
Looking forward to continuing soon.
Was wondering if you guys could help me out.
There's a song from Zero (and Kiwami as well, I believe) that's always stuck in my head, but I can never find it. I'll describe it as best I can:
That's... the best I can do. Like I said I definitely recall hearing it a lot in the pocket racing building. I have an oddly distinct memory of customizing a car while it played in the background.
- It's usually in the background of stores/mini game buildings (pocket racing is common, I think)
- It has a heavy guitar riff in the beginning
- It has male vocals (in Japanese) and a super catchy chorus, that also features a rad guitar riff
Thanks dudes!

Isn't the Yakuza Browser / Mobile game supposed to take place after Ichiban's prison stint ends? That would mean that the mobile game would release this year with Shin RGG coming out in 2019 perhaps. That sounds like a more realistic scenario for me. I'm pretty sure we will get a proper Shin RGG trailer around Tokyo Game Show. And I'm really excited to find out more about the game and especially how much more advancements they made with the Dragon Engine.
It's most certainly a very exciting time to be a Yakuza fan. The series finally found success in the west. Sega is supporting it a lot and a whole new chapter is starting very soon.
The first thing that came to my mind was Machine Gun Kiss. I remember it being featured in stores in 0 and Kiwami. It originally was one of the karaoke songs in Yakuza 4, 5 and Dead Souls.
If that's not the song you were thinking about, we will continue to investigate further, of course. :)
Yeah I mean Hokuto and K2 released like what, 3 months apart? As Gacha mentioned, the game does mention Ichibans prison stint ends in 2018, but with the remasters coming I'm doubting a 2018 release. But Sega are magicians when it comes to releasing Yakuza games, so who knows!
A lot of the store background music don't make it to the official OSTs and don't receive a full version. Right now I can think of two examples to your query. One of them is a slower paced one and the singer is singing in English. It does not have a full version to my knowledge but is based off of the Pocket Circuit Customization tune in Kiwami. Was wondering if you guys could help me out.

Even though it sort of pains me to give him a plug considering how much of a jackass he is, you might check out YakuzaArk's Yakuza tourism series over on YT.I'm headed to Japan in about a week, any cool places I need to visit as a Yakuza fan? How about as a videogame fan?

For those that missed my simultaneous livestream of Yakuza 2 and Yakuza Kiwami 2...Even though it sort of pains me to give him a plug considering how much of a jackass he is, you might check out YakuzaArk's Yakuza tourism series over on YT.
That definitely fits the description, but unfortunately it's not it. The song I'm thinking of was more metal/punk and less 80s sounding.
The search continues!
Damn! But that tells me that it's most likely one of the unreleased tracks, just like Narumi mentioned. Fortunately someone did rip pretty much all unreleasted tracks directly from the game. But that also means that there's likely just a short version available, but at least you might be able to recognize the song again. That being said: The list is quite long with over 170 tracks. I went through a few ones and the ones that I recognize from the Pocket Circuit Stadium are around number 155. I picked 2 as an example, maybe one of them is even the one you were looking for? They would at least fit your description, I'd say.
Here's the link to the entire playlist
Wow, I almost suggested the Kiwami version, but the part about the vocals threw me off. That second one is it! Damn I've had this in my head nonstop since playing Zero last year.
Thanks a ton man!
A very good friend of mine just beat 6, and I linked him Hands. Just discussing it and watching the video with lyrics man.....
It's been over 3 months since I beat it and I'm still getting crashed with manly tears when thinking about it. Just such an amazing game :')
Here is a good thread for you.I'm headed to Japan in about a week, any cool places I need to visit as a Yakuza fan? How about as a videogame fan?

After 62 hours, I've just finished Yakuza Ishin, and I absolutely loved it. There was a point where I honestly thought it might end up being my favourite game in the series, but ultimately I don't think it stuck the landing quite as well as 0 and 2 did for me. Which is not to say that the ending isn't fantastic (it is!), just that, to a certain extent, it relies on some historical context that I imagine most Japanese players at least be relatively familiar with, but I (a white Aussie who only learnt Japanese in High School :P) was woefully uneducated about. Nothing huge, but just enough to have me thinking "Wait, what?" at a pivotal moment right at the end.
God, this game was good, though. The Yakuza games have this unspoken rule that the cutscene and gameplay worlds are two entirely separate places, and what happens in one doesn't affect the other. It's how Kiryu can clearly murder men in gameplay but have them get up and stagger away once the cutscene world takes over again, or how guns can be serious threats in the cutscene world but only mild annoyances in gameplay. But it feels like RGG Studio got a little frisky this time around, and the gameplay world started to seep into the cutscenes, and it leads to the SICKEST SHIT! This game literally had me scooting forward to the edge of my seat and laughing in sheer delight at the ridiculous hype on screen. Some of the later bosses honestly come so close to just having DBZ-style powerup sequences before their bossfights. People straight up start cutting bullets out of the air at the end of this game. IN CUTSCENE! Like, that shit actually happened, and it was SO AWESOME. I'm pretty sure Nishiki's character knew Instant Transmission. They went nuts with this game.
And I just loved the story. The cast is made up of all our favourite characters from the series' history (minus Kaoru, because there's no justice in this world), but the crucial point is that they don't all play to type, so you never quite know what to expect from them. Some characters appear almost exactly as they are in the main series, but some play totally different roles from usual, and the game will keep you guessing to the very end. I remember being so certain I knew who the Masked Ninja that kicks off the story was going to be, and I could not have been more wrong. There's a lot of fanservice here, but for the most part it's all done really cleverly; not just "Hey, remember this thing?" but "We know you remember this thing, so we're going to pull the rug out from under you when you least expect it", and I loved that.
I'll do some quick spoiler-ised thoughts to finish, but long story short: Yakuza Ishin is an excellent game, and it's a crime it was never localised. Genuinely one of the best games in the series; I really hope Sega will take another look at bringing it to the West one day. OK here we go:
I waited and waited and waited for Mine to turn on me. His actor does such a great job of sounding sinister all the time, and I was going to be ready for whatever he threw at me. And then he turned out to just be a solid bro the whole time!
I loved the callback to the Yakuza 2 castle, with the gatling guns and the tigers (or at least two golden-armoured dudes this time around), but imagine my delight when I found out that there'd be another castle coming up later on, and this one was FULL OF NINJAS, and the boss waiting at the end of it was none other than our favourite punching back Daigo! I'm so happy they managed to fit him in there; I'd honestly forgotten about him, I was so wrapped up in this game's story, but I should have known RGG Studio wouldn't miss a chance to let us dunk on him again. Ryoma slugging him in the face after the fight was a thing of beauty.
I love the whole story of the real Ryoma coming to Kyoto and taking a fake name, only to be stalked by some mysterious other guy walking around with Ryoma's real name. From Ryoma being distraught over seemingly losing his best friend Takechi, to the dawning realisation that the fake Ryoma is Takechi back from the dead, to the moment Ryoma tries to pin it all on Izou in the hopes that he'd got it wrong, to that incredible cutscene with Takechi finally standing there, unmasked but bathed in darkness (what an ominous image!); man they nailed it.
The Kiryu/Ryuji/Akimoto drunken bro-down chapter is one of my favourite parts of this entire series.
Nope. None. Only new Yakuza news is the remasters (and I see you've got a new avatar depicting 3's remaster boxart now :) )
Shame. Can we hope for Kiwami 2 (EN. Version) at E3 at least?Nope. None. Only new Yakuza news is the remasters (and I see you've got a new avatar depicting 3's remaster boxart now :) )
TGS is our only hope for Shin news this year I think, unless we get another Yakuza event like they did last year to announce Shin/Online/FOTNS/Kiwami 2.
Tried searching but couldn't find anything, I've got a battle skill in Yakuza 6 that won't unlock. The prerequisite to unlock simply says "Unlocked after Attack over 150". My Attack is currently at 161. Is this a glitch or is it dependent on the story maybe?
Most likely yeah. Past Yakuza games were at E3. I remember being sad that 0 wasn't getting that much attention, then after it and Kiwami were breakout niche hits the following conference (I think Gamescom or PSX) had a really long line of people waiting to play Yakuza 6. It was a great sight to see :)
Thank you so much. I feel like a dummy now.It looks like your attack is being boosted up to 161 by an equipped item.
Your attack needs to be at a natural 150 to unlock that skill.
Tell us how it feels compared to 6's dragon engine!I'll get to try Kiwami 2's Western version next week during E3. I can't wait!
Got Yakuza 0 ordered (beat Kiwami over the weekend). Best Buy finally got the game back in stock and put it on sale. With discounts I got it down pretty low
So tempted to start Yakuza 6 first though because I feel the graphics are going to look really good on my ps4 pro
Story is great, god bless them for not going MGS4 fanservice and instead actually crafting a touching story that's entirely about the theme of family. So now that more people have been able to finish Yakuza 6, how does the overall story compare to the rest of the series? Ive heard some negatives about it, mainly about the ending, and it caused me to put it off and not continue with it. I basically stopped after getting to the countryside and have been thinking about getting back to it and finishing the game.
