The clothes weren't fully redone like other parts of the character models. You can see it in places like the sleeves on Shulk's default outfit. There are a few tweaks though like the cylinders on Shulk's left sleeve being actual cylinders now instead of flat rectangles. My guess is that the clothes got less changes in DE due to how many outfits each character has, but that's just a guess on my part.
It will be because of changeable armour, especially the fact that it's modular, so you can mix and match.
Yeah agreed, the character faces and the world areas have been changed more, and as I said I hope they deliver a "cleaner-looking" game with no aggressive TAA or the awful sharpening filter. I don't mind a game that looks simpler if this means that it looks cleaner.

Man. I can't decide whether or not to tackle another JRPG in-between FF7 Remake and this. I'm glacial at video games -- I'll play an RPG everyday almost without fail but still take thrice as long as other folks I know, because I'm just... I don't know. Glacial!

I have games like Dragon Quest 11 and Persona 5 Royal waiting for me. Xenoblade X and 2 are also in the queue but I'll wait til after this one for sure. I've got FF12's TZA remaster on the docket as well. I wanna replay FF6. Aaaah, I love JRPGs. I have too many to play, new and old.

Maybe I should just take it easy and focus on Animal Crossing + a platformer or Civ 6 or something until May 29th.

I'm curious, will this be the first time you play this game?

It seems they will be using the "fake depth of field" effect they used in Torna, let's see if they add some new substantial things to the engine with this remake.

I'll never understand the meme of people wanting Shulk and Melia to get togther. He has a bigger connection with Fiora, makes sense they become a couple.

I always want to distribute my RPG time between shorter games... and I never can.

I played Zero no Kiseki, then RE2+RE3 (remakes)+ FFVIIR... I wanted to play some "lighter" games between FFVII and XCDE... and here I am playing Ao no Kiseki, which is an insanely long game filled with endless dialogue. But I suppose is what I enjoy the most.

Because some players have a big thing for non-canon pairings you know, The more the developer leans towards a specific partner for the MC, the more the fanbase will draw fanart of another potential partner. Is the JRPG endless cycle.

I said this before, but clothing details look worse than in Xc2, all the metalic pieces and the textures are not great at all. Which can mean that they prioritized resolution over details, which can be great news as you will see the character models really small most of the times and Xc2 was blurry for a Switch game. Or maybe it's just that having lots of armor instead of a single one means that the effort was distributed.

Much of the clothing of all characters is reused from the Wii version. They only remodelled and retextured parts of it. What bothers me is that Reyn still has super polygonal shoulders even though they could've easily fixed that on Switch. :/

You might want to spoiler tag that considering all the people in here that haven't played the game yet.

But yes, I'm 100% with you on that.
Yes please spoiler tag this.
People were just openly talking about it on this page, but fine.

I understand the meme of it, but I don't understand people who seriously want it that way.

Lookin' gorgeous is all I can say. Are they doing all of these today I wonder? I hope this means the website is updated too. I'd love to see some more footage.

So, who's up next then? Sharla? Then Riki, then Melia?

Yes and no! :P I purchased the game for the Wii as soon as it became available here in the States. I made it to a village filled with the little pon dudes or whatevs; they regarded one in particular as a heropon. I was really enjoying the game but life went sideways in a hurry. I had no time for video games for a little while and I ended up leaving the Wii with my ex (it was technically ours and I didn't want to argue about it). I remember little of the overall narrative but what little I do remember was quite solid. And the music... the music was sublime.

Yeeeeeep! It's what I enjoy the most as well. It can be a mixed blessing, haha. I do manage to play through some shorter, non-RPG/Zelda/etc fare for maybe two months each year, split roughly into two separate spurts? That's how I got through stuff like Super Mario 3D World and NSMBU Deluxe a few months back.

If I went for a Kiseki right now I'd be playing Xenoblade in like July. LOL. I love those games from what I've played, though.

I don't care that much if the XC DE looks "cheaper" compared to Xc2 if this means that the IQ is better and that the "main team" is advancing steadily in next game's development. And tbh the environments look amazing so far, which is IMO what needs the most.

The new faces are good. But the rest still stands next to FFX in terms of " artsyle that would fit a 89's tacky beach towel with dolphins".

Oh, then you were quite far into the game already. Nopon village is probably about the 60% mark of the game.
I hope you'll now have all the time and peace to fully immerse yourself in the game. It's amazing, combat, story, characters, music...my favorite JRPG of all time.

Whoa, really? That's interesting. I've often been told otherwise -- that it wasn't that far into the game. Huh!

I'm pretty sure Frontier Village is a bit before the halfway point.

Frontier village is DEFINITELY not the 60% mark from experience, at least it doesn't feel like it from all the shit that happens later.

Definitely not 60%. Maybe 40%?

Could you please spoiler tag the post that you were quoting?

I really love the new character models. I like that they look more painterly and less exaggerated than XBC2. As it is, I think this remaster is looking gorgeous. I can accept the limitations because this a goddamn big-ass game - think about all those huge environments and that long, sweeping story. It won't have been a small job. As someone else has said, the limitations might also mean that whatever new projects are in the works at Monolith Soft aren't too far away.

Anyway, I really can't wait to get this. Xenoblade came out just as I was developing a real fascination with JRPGs, and I only ever had the time to get through it once. I've always wanted to go back to it and now I can go back to it in the form of a gorgeous remaster on my favourite system.

I am losing my mind, these screenshots look absolutely incredible.

Everyone is so crisp and I can't get over the lighting.
