You're on a video game forum where people discuss various aspects of video games and their creation. Hate to break it to you. Framing this as 'gamer entitlement' is ridiculous. The OP posed an innocuous question and some reasons and context was given. You are seeing something that isn't there.

They said it was 'coming soon' in one of the trailers over a year ago.
That was Nintendo, not Team Cherry.
It was in a Nintendo Direct (I think the E3 one last year where they had a demo), it was a short ~10s clip saying coming soon.
Wasn't it Nintendo PR who (incorrectly) said that? I seem to recall Team Cherry pointing out they actually never said it was coming soon themselves. Could be wrong though.

For sure, it sold 250k in the first 2 weeks and it was in the best selling eshop titles in 2018/19.
I don't think it was ever 2020. Game was always 2021 at the earliest, wouldn't be surprised if it slipped to 2022 honestly. Whenever it's ready.

Uh, no. There's tons of indie games that show up playable at trade shows year after year.
Yup. If it takes until 2023, its still all good. There's nothing to question. Creating anything is really hard and usually takes much longer than you hope!
I want this so much - also the added benefit of getting an Amiibo figure.
This is a game that I do not mind waiting for. I have full faith in this team to deliver a worthy successor the HK.
