I got that on a whim in the new release section back in jr high. Didn't hear any hype for it before hand. The cover just looked crazy, so I bought it. Much like buying video games based on the box back in the day.

To Pimp A Butterfly has been edging it's way up for me. As the overall product including message and songs it has to be The Chronic for me.
I still love the shit out of All Eyez on Me and The Chronic 2001 and listen to tracks off those more than TPAB or The Chronic

I was going to ask if it was silly to make a distinction. It's (TPAB) a rap album done by a west coast rapper. But for some reason I don't consider it west coast rap. I dunno. Feels like the JRPG genre argument.

As dope as TPAB is, these albums felt very West Coast not only in their style but lyrics and basically everyday life of the West. GKMC was way more of a West Coast album than TPAB.

Doggystyle is up there as well. Every track is a classic. Good Sunday drive album here in cali.

This is one of my favorite albums. I bumped the hell out of this in high school riding on the bus. So many great memories when I listen to this album.
That group was the west coast answer to ATCQ but unfortunately they didn't leg it out as long.

Doggystyle is a better album than The Chronic, even though The Chronic has better singles. I am quite fond of Ice Cube's stuff from that era, and might put one of those records higher. Special nod to In a Major Way by E40.

This. The Chronic & Doggystyle are classics that still go HARD even today. Let Me Ride is smooth as fuck.
