What's Mario's best jump?

I used to work at a retro gameshop and my way of testing any N64 joypads coming in was to load up Mario 64 and do long jumps. It just feels 'right'.

It does sometimes. There is a variant of the jump that causes him to home-in on enemies and land on them in a gymnast's pose, if you perform a spin and stomp mid-jump.

Other jumps can be used to initiate the pose (iirc), so I'm not sure it counts.

For some reason the somersault jump just feels satisfying, probably because you're flicking the stick in the same way so it has more "oomph" to it.

Long jump is close second though.

heyyy Mario vs. DK is pretty darn good despite its weird pre-rendered look. it's a shame it got turned into the Minis series
