Its one of my favourite IPs. Platinumed 1, Remaster and 2. I feel so sad when I see a bunch of comments blaiming the gameplay / combat. I agree that some missions can have bad design, but the combat is one of the games best parts in my opinion :(
GV2 has an animation series, symphonic live music performances and a wordwilde promotion with posters and TV advertising.Sony didnt market the second one properly because they didnt care.

I love this IP (for me it's the same game in two parts), but it just flops.
.
I mean, this can be a game too.Rather than a third game, can Sony just let a mangaka make a slice of life yuri series? I need Kat and Raven being girlfriends and solving small problems in the city.
All I want is a third game. Juat one more game that takes advantage of the SSD and more Kat and friends adventure. I really love this series and would love more.
Heck, while you are at it, make an anime.
Just give me more damn it...
Yeah.I feel ya. I feel like I'm content with how the second game ended. It wraps everything up with a nice bow, even if it is bittersweet.
But this is maybe one of the only examples where that doesn't matter to me, I'll take another helping.
Gravity Rush 1 is a good game but 2 is an outright masterpiece.
One of the best open-worlds this gen, especially the first area because of how it's design is intrinsically tethered to the narratives and class struggle themes of the first half of the game.
I'd prefer a game but I'd settle for that. After how GR2 ended, I need a follow up in some form.
I really love the Gravity Rush series, especially the first one; I managed to import a European PS4 copy since the American version is stupid rare, and it's one of the only PS games I ever got a platinum trophy for. I never actually finished 2 which I was liking a bit less due to the stealth missions and added bloat, but I was still enjoying my time with it because the stories and characters are incredibly charming and enjoyable, plus the combat feels much improved. I plan on finishing it someday.
To be honest it's been a struggle finding Sony exclusive games that interest me this gen, so I'm really happy I got around to playing this series, but also disappointed in its lack of popularity and Sony's own interest. I have nothing inherently against the rest of their output, but GR appeals more to my specific tastes, especially since I'm a sucker for the idea of an anime-influenced superhero game. While I like the gameplay, I would not mind at all if GR was continued in the form of an anime or manga.
I also need to stan Kouhei Tanaka for a moment due to being one of my favorite anime musicians, and I immediately recognized his style of music when I booted Remastered up for the first time. If Sony ever makes a Gravity Rush 3 without his involvement, then it wouldn't be GR3 in my eyes (or ears rather).
1:20 was where I just went "Holy crap, the One Piece composer!?" and my intuitions proved to be correct. Really talented guy with a distinct style that fills your imagination with wonder and adventure.
Or an anime at least. Sony were talking about making tv shows from their games. Gravity Rush is already structured as a slice of life anime.I'd prefer a game but I'd settle for that. After how GR2 ended, I need a follow up in some form.
If you haven't then play Sakura Wars. That game has another awesome Kohei Tanaka soundtrack.
Haha I have the same issue. I start a game and enjoy it then I go to sleep and feel the itch for some other game so I play thatt and don't return for a while.Sakura Wars is the most recent game I picked up for the system and the music is absolutely wonderful! I haven't finished SW either (this is a problem for 80% of games I play, even ones I like...) but now that you mention it, I might just try to get back into it and maybe GR2 this weekend.
No, it is not one of the best open worlds this gen or even a masterpiece because the world is just there to collect crystals and to find more or less annoying sidequests, the stealth ones being the biggest offender. also the "flying" which is more like falling is cool for like 90minutes after that it gets old.
the gameplay is boring and the story goes nowhere. also, the game was far too long for its own good, when a game has such weak gameplay mechanics maybe don´t try to make it extra long. the combat including the camera were just not good at all and the game wastes too much time on nonsense dialogues.
it looks colourful and fun but it just isn´t fun to play at all.
for me both games were 6/10 material and frankly just boring.
Mediocre games no one wanted, like pretty much every Sony Japan Studio game.
That means jack shit when the missions are so bad that player won't be interested in doing them. No one is actually discussing the value of these as a meaning of character development. The world has a narrative basis for existing because not only does it adhere to those themes, but the side missions serve to envelop Kat, and the player by extension into the world through meaningful character interaction. That's why many of the stories have continuations throughout the game.
It's not that stealth missions are the only crappy missions, it's just that they were the worst offender, but overall the missions in GR2 are pretty bad.
Now that's something up for debate. I personally love the traversal in GR2, but there really isn't much incentive to actually uh, traverse the world. You either get crappy side missions or you have to find obscure collectibles. The big open world and most of the stuff you can do in it doesn't seem to play with the game's strengths. They added two layers of dynamic to the traversal mechanic and weaving between the 3 styles can net satisfying results.
