I built my PC last xmas, and I wanted 144hz with G-sync. The monitor that gave me the best options for my price point was a 1080.

I have a 2700x / 2080 and would ideally like to be at 1440. I'm thinking of upgrade to a 3700x and a 1440 next.

Had a 1080 TN panel and a 4k VA monitor - but sometimes gaming on the LG C9 tv now. 1080p is just a vaseline smeared mess to my eyes these days.

I have an old 25" 1440p monitor, but my PC is pretty much a Plex server now, and it's crap anyway by todays standards of 4k TV and 1080p+ phones. Monitor industry is absolute trash in comparison to TV's/phones. You can get 2 high quality 4K TVs for the price of one, awful high end gaming monitor almost certainly riddled with lightbleed, glow or other QA issues.

1440p is really just the perfect resolution for a desktop. It's so much more freeing for desktop usage, and works well for games too.
Maybe in 2010, or maybe purely for PC games these days it's an ugly old resolution for anything above tablet size.

Just bought a very high end machine (RTX 2080, i9, 32Gb RAM) but my PC monitor is only 27inch 1080p display. I could technically just plug it up to my 4k TV but I'm not sure if that's worth it? My thought is that games will run better on the 1080p monitor and because it's smaller than my 65inch 4k display I won't notice too much of a difference. I don't know maybe I'm just being lazy not wanting to lug the machine up and down the stairs (desk is upstairs, TV is downstairs). What about you guys? Do you play in with a higher resolution? Does anyone have a high end machine but play mostly is 1080p?

4K @ 120hz. Along with gsync and HDR.

I have the same specs as you, except a 2080ti. Don't waste that rig on 1080p.

It was a hard decision but I decided to go with a 1080p 144hz monitor instead of 1440p.

24" 1440p (165hz, G-Sync). I can't complain but i would choose a 27" if i could change it just for the immersion factor. I'm gonna wait a few years for my next upgrade which hopefully will be something like an OLED.

27 1440p gsync

And I hope I can one day upgrade to 27-32 1440p gsync HDR. I'm not interested in 4k, takes too much to push that.

My desktop is connected to a 1080p monitor and a 4K TV. I mostly use the TV for gaming, with an Xbox controller.

But some things, like AoE, I play on the monitor when I need to use a mouse.

Was plugged into a 59" 4k TV. Recently moved it into an office room and currently using a monitor that is 1680 x 1050. It is what it is.

Just recently joined the ultrawide club!

35" 3440x1440 144Hz GSYNC HDR1000 VA

Had to sacrifice a substantial number of frames in most games, but the greater aspect ratio was worth it. Forza Horizon 4 in particular is just a treat to play at 21:9.

I recently got a new 55 inch 4K TV for the living room so I moved my old 40 inch 4K TV to the bedroom to see how it would work as a monitor and it works better than I thought it would. I dont ever see my self going back to a traditional pc montior.

It's a PG279q. A 27 inches 165hz G-Sync monitor with 1440p resolution.
I don't plan to go "4K" anytime soon. If anything I'm impatient to enjoy this resolution even more in the next few years at its top framerate.

P.S. As we are vaguely in topic: what is the best suggested way to clean these sorts of monitors?
I'm constantly in fear of ruining the panel when I'm wiping it.

I have the same monitor.
I use a microfiber cloth.

27 inch 1440p 144hz IPS Freesync is my main monitor for my PC, have it flanked by two 24 inch 1080p 60hz, one of which is super old and dark. I should probably recycle it or something.
55 inch 4k 60hz LED for my consoles

I'll upgrade in a few years but for now I have no reason to as this is pretty great

1080p. Looking to upgrade to a 1440p mainly because of FF14 but it's difficult to find a fancier one (IPS, 120+ Hz, Free/Gsync) that doesn't have some issue it seems. Leaning towards the LG GL850 at the moment, but I'm concerned about poor contrast.

I've been gaming on a 4k TV for the better part of a year and a half now, no going back for me. Luckily my system can handle it: r7 1700/1080ti/32gb ram

The ASUS PG279Q (or QZ) is pretty much the ideal 1440p/144-165Hz IPS panel with GSYNC. No glaring flaws or features omitted. It's pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Thanks. That one is also on the short list, but multiple reviews mentioned the gamma response is too dark even after calibration, a problem I had with an older monitor and absolutely don't wanna experience again.

My monitor is 1440p 144hz gsync, but my PC is also hooked up to my home theater where I have a 65" 4k OLED. I play on the TV most of the time.

3440x1440 21:9 ultrawide with 100hz refresh and gsync. It's beautiful, even for 16:9 console games with letterboxing.

Upgraded to a 1440p monitor with gsync and HDMI ports so I can plug in other devices. Best upgrade ever.

Had 1080p60hz since I built my PC in early 2016, hoping to upgrade to 1440p 120fps+ one sometime. I do quite a bit of PC gaming on 4k TV, depending on the game. Got a GTX 1070 so obviously I'm not hitting native 4k on new titles, if I can't at least hit 1440p easily I move game to the monitor.

For now, I was ecstatic to discover I can overclock my monitor to 74hz thanks to this thread :D

24" 1080p, 144hz. I can never go back to 60hz after playing on this ever again. Don't really need 4K yet.

24 inch 1080p monitor. Had it for about 6 years I think. Dont tend to use my pc that much anyway so no point upgrading. Do most of my gaming on switch, ps4 and xbox.
