I just saw a low-end tablet. Nothing out of the ordinary, right? Well... This tablet has an integrated DVD drive. And if is not some sort of joke product; it's a product anyone could buy right now! 🤣

Pretty absurd, right?

I feel like this is a better, less misleading shot of the product. I literally thought it was a tablet with a disc slot built into the top of it.

I don't know if they are still going, but US airlines inflight brochures used to sell the most amazing shit. Like tiny remote controlled refrigerators. Someone must have been buying that shite

Selling empty shrinkwrapped plastic boxes with codes inside of them, like this shit:

Such an unnecessary waste of plastic + fossil fuels used to transport it. Especially in Fortnite's case because that's a FREE GAME and the box is legitimately just for DLC.

I don't get it. What's the problem? Sounds pretty good to me. DVD's haven't gone extinct. We still own them and a tablet that can play DVD's sounds good to me.

Gift cards. Just give cash, it's infinitely more flexible for the recipient and doesn't create excess waste. I've always thought they were pointless. I suppose you could argue it shows more thought in terms of gift giving than cash, you narrowed it down to a broad category of store the recipient might be interested in, but for me it just seems needlessly restrictive. What if they didn't want anything from a particular shop? Now they're stuck with it, or left to sell it for a percentage of the card's value.

Also, homeopathic "remedies." Literally just sugar pills that scams people into thinking it's "medicine." This one is super popular for some bizarre reason:

I even got fooled by this one:

I bought Zicam once at Walgreens without thinking...and turns out there's not even any Zinc in it. It just has artificial flavors that taste like Zinc. This should be straight up illegal. I can't believe the government in good conscience allows these to proliferate in supermarkets and drug stores.

Superplexus 3D Gravity Ball Maze, a mere $55k

Subsurface watercraft, yours for just $300k
12470_380x380.jpg

The Gotham Golfcart, a steal at $28.5k

Robot sommelier? Add it to the cart for only $205k!

Go where you want in style with the Helicycle, if you can pony up $395k

What home is complete without their very own $100k life size replica t-rex skeleton?

And many, many more for the discerning lunatic with hundreds of thousands of dollars to burn!

I remember seeing a list of awkward Twilight paraphernalia when the movies were coming out and of the items on the list the two I still remember are panties that have Edward Cullen's lips printed on the inside, and a dildo that sparkles and stays cold after you put it in the freezer

Ya know, I work at Target, and throughout the pandemic as we've gone through waves of toilet paper and wet wipes being completely sold out, we've consistently maintained a huge, literal pile of these. Not even a proper display. There's just a big-ass pile of like 200 packages just sitting in an otherwise empty paper department. No one buys them, even when everything else has been sold out for days, lol.

Is this a meme or something? Just a wasteful way to get the juice? I actually like cold pressed juice and that sounds good.

700 bucks for an always online (can't have you squeezing non Juicero brand juice bags) machine that squeezed single serving bags of pulp. The user had to subscribe to the Juicero juice bag service, and I think individual bags ended up costing ~8 dollars. Numerous testers found could get an identical quantity and quality of juice just by squeezing the bags by hand anyway.

And obviously it's incredibly wasteful too.

Yeah I don't think I can beat that.
I didn't know I needed a pool table shaped like a 50s Cadillac, but now it's all i can think about!

A video of a reporter can destroy your company, and it was widely mocked because it added extra steps to just squeeze yourself the already prepared juice instead of the "required" $400 machine. Also subscription services and WiFi because why not

www.bloomberg.com

Silicon Valley’s $400 Juicer May Be Feeling the Squeeze

Two investors in Juicero were surprised to learn the startup’s juice packs could be squeezed by hand without using its high-tech machine.

Edit: Beated.

I probably should buy the T-rex skull.
I'm not really sure where I would put something like that, or even how to get it in my house.

I'll have to figure something out.

This is great. Sort by price high to low and it's a huge list of things that a character in a comedy movie would buy after winning the lottery.
