So, apparently, if you don't finish "A Very Hostile Takeover" before dealing with Valor in Denver, quest will automatically fail, cause Charley Knowes and his cartel are tired of waiting and are attacking on their own. Shame, will check how it is going in Bizzare now.

uMnl6Ld.jpg
For me the same happened, however
they were still in the house at the parking garage you're supposed to meet them, but you can't start their mission, you can however talk to the cheif of the Bizzare and say you know about a coup attempt, which sends you to kill them and will complete the quest that way and give you further discount at the Bizzare

This happened to me, and now everyone in the Bizarre is dead - Charley is hanging out in Little Vegas, but that might be a bug.

I really love the character closeups are so stylistically similar to Fallout 1 / 2's talking heads. Fishlips looks straight out of Fallout 2, and the encounter with Liberty was excellent.

Why wouldn't yall do hostile takeover when you hear about it? It does sound urgent. You got only yourselves to blame on that one

Anyone else have fluctuating damage numbers on weapons? It's usually only happening with my SMG character, I have an Uzi that does 10-12 x6, and it usually drops to(in the UI) 6-7 x6 if I've been in an area for more than a minute or two.

I can un-equip and re-equip it and the UI changes back to 10-12 x6.

I'm not sure if it's a UI bug, or the actual weapon is dealing less damage, but will look out for it when I play next.

I did it straight away because I truly like to roleplay and treat game events as they're being presented, but I get why general RPG design would make people feel comfortable putting off "sidequests" indefinitely. I'm glad W3 is more reactive than most titles this way.

I do sort of wish the game marked quests that were more pressing in some way, mostly since some are presented as important but aren't actually timed based on other quest progress. Though that would make things feel less organic and it's only a handful of quests that do that.

I think most limited time missions make will tend to mention their pressing nature. The real problem is that people have been conditioned to ignore that as meaningless flavour dialogue, haha.

Same as this game occasionally upends the conventional assumption that skill check dialogue will always produce the best outcome.

Had that happen with my brawler. It seems like it has to do with them losing their skill damage, because to me the biggest clue was that he was not getting 1 AP attacks at 10 skill. When I took off the weapon and reequipped it it worked just fine. Not sure what triggers it though.

The combat in this game is getting more satisfying to me. I'm pretty sure I'm at the endgame now

Late game spoilers
About to contact Angela Deth in person after completing Aspen and Denver

and I'm wishing that, despite all bugs, that the game would throw more challenging combat scenarios at me. The battle with the drools

Denver Spoiler
After taking out the God people on the hill in the area with the Gippers

was the most fun I've had in the combat this game because of the massive battle, somehow literally the whole area came at me at once and really forced me to figure out how to survive. Need more stuff like that. Most combat is easy peasy regardless of your setup it seems.

Because it doesn't sound different from other missions and they are not time-limited in Wastelands 3. Also, no one is blaming anyone, I just find it interesting, because I haven't encountered such design in this game before.

So dunno if its bugged or doesn't meet the requirement for the The Scorpitron Slayer achievement, but

it didn't pop for me when I killed a golden scorpitron in a random encounter. Especially annoying as the battle cost me the provost

EhO573XWoAMHGgR

Spoiler cause it was a cool random encounter somewhere around the south of the map

huh so umm dont quicksave
near the exit of the patriarchs bunker in broadmoor heights if the second mercenary team fled due to your fame. when you reload they all spawn back in thin air on top of you getting a first turn and its BRUTAL cause they have like four guys spamming the torrent shot strike attack

had a similar thing happening
in denver where i reloaded a quicksave after beating the gippers and the entire area was full of high level drools and the exploding ones. like FULL. around 20 of them, maybe more. the loot screen after the fight - which i only won by abusing turrets and chokepoints - broke beyond the screen. was a fun fight but geez

i just find it interesting, because I haven't encountered such design in this game before.
if you talk to either knowles or flab they say its going to happen soon. i dont remember the mission description though

also the hoon/arapaho missions fail if you ignore them and go do whatever else afaik
the
sisters quests in ghost town do to. or at least did in my game cause i couldnt find them

I'm a few hours in... I feel like I understand the mechanics now so would like to replace my main characters

will I lose anything if I create new characters and re-spec ? Or should I just start the game again?

(do new characters have all the XP your current characters do?)

thanks

They start in the level of the max character you had or the median level (dont know for sure) but other than that you dont lose anything afaik besides perk you could get around the world? But i havent tested it

Just dont change your mind after it and try to readd your first two characters, theres a bug where they get negative attributes if they get benched last i heard. dunno if the steam patch fixed it

When I see people finishing the game in under 35 hours I wonder how I'm so comparatively slow, I think I'm always moving forward at a steady pace. I'm at a point where I've done most/all things I can in Colorado Springs, the Bizarre (+ Bunker) and a few smaller locations in the area - and I'm at 30 hours without having been to Aspen or Denver yet but ready to head out. Crew around level 14-15. I don't struggle much with combat and I've only restarted a fight a couple of times due to bad starting positions getting my rangers downed quickly in the first few rounds. I do listen to all voice acting, even though I could read the text much faster and skip ahead. I enjoy the voice acting too much to skip anything though. The 60+ hours I see others getting out of this game seems more in line with my experience so far.

With Hoon Homestead game introduces player to mechanic of simultaneous events on the map, where you can choose only one, so it's different.

As for sisters in Ghost Town, it's just random event, that you should discover, I've never seen those to expire, I still haven't reached a man, who is under attack «of martians» around Denver and I was radioed about it by HQ quite some time ago.

I've been enjoying the heck out of the game. My squad is all ~L25 and I'm towards the end of the game, judging by overworld map completion and skill levels / enemy difficulty.

If I could go back, I'd certainly make some changes in terms of skill optimizations on characters in order to get some skill points efficiently placed. I'm rolling with my choices though.

The "must have" skills so far for me have been : explosives, lockpicking, weird science, first aid, mechanics, and barter (if you want to trivialize money)

Surprisingly good skill: Animal Taming - you get some crazy pet choices at L9 and L10 and the damage is usually obscene. I'm actually disappointed there isn't a "That rabbit's dynamite!" achievement for having a murder bunny take down a certain number of enemies.

Quick question.

Is it work making a character with the toaster repair, weapon and armor modding who you leave off your ques unless you need them?

This way you can get more useful skills?

Thanks! Playing it on Xbox though

it's actually my first 2 characters I want to change the most - I just used stock ones rather than customising. As long as I don't want to use them again then I'm fine (don't care if they get negative - won't be using them)

armor modding and weapon modding maybe. i find it a pain to have to go back to base and swap peeps every time though so i just have someone wiith armor modding and take lucia with me. there are a few dialogue checks with it around too

toaster repair absolutely not. unless you really like going back to base, changing teams, going to the toaster, going back to base, changing to main team rinse and repeat. there are also random encounters in the overworld where you can repair some toasters so it always pays off to have someone with you. you get enough points to have the skill on at least one of your peeps

I thought that I would have wrapped things up by now, but there is still quite a bit to do once you get to

End Game Spoilers, post Aspen and Denver

the Yuma raceway. I brought along the slaver like Angela asked me to, and it opens up a line of quests designed for you to install him as the head of the gangs. Am tempted to ditch him since it's so obviously evil to let any of these guys live (with the exception of the Dorseys, weirdly enough) but going along with it for now.

I did end up chasing away the Godfishers using the sacrifice, but I backtracked and killed all the guys at the shrine first. It seems clear to me that this was supposed to be a separate area originally, it seems a shame because if it was fleshed out a bit more we would be looking at an endgame where there were separate areas for each gang and you had to decide how to interact with each of them. Maybe that'll happen in the inevitable Director's Cut.

Wow, I can already see how tough the choice to make will be in Denver between the two factions. Tackling this after a good night's sleep. Love how the game really makes you think about the weight of your decision.

Is this ok to start on pc, or should I wait for some bugs to get ironed out first?

there are small bugs here and there (mostly graphical, like a door you lockpicked "reappearing" but you still going through it fine) but i havent had a single crash on pc yet. i gave up on my xbox save after, like, 40ish, so yeah, big difference. GP version here, heard the steam one is even more stable (and received the latest patch already which gp and consoles didnt)

This feels like a game where every faction will inevitably dislike you. Nearly every decision during a given mission has some sort of ultimatum that you know will have repercussions later. Really fantastic storytelling so far. The gameplay is still an adjustment for me but I'm getting the hang of knowing when to attack and when to move and defend or prepare. It feels very tactical. Which is great cause I've just picked up chess recently so this is a nice way to warm up.

My only thing is when do I pick up a 6th member? I'm currently on the
help Charles takeover The Bizarre
and I'm still a team of 5. Is that normal for this point. Also, anyone wanna tease the outcomes of the above spoiler?

You goofed up friend
By that point i already had six choices of companions. theres probably more
kwon which is hard to miss, lucia which is also very hard to miss and i thought it was even obligatory to take, jodie bell that can die in the intro i guess and scotchmo that just appeared up in the base? condite and fishstick were options too but fuck them didnt take it

Are you guys that are playing Co-Op having a ton of issues with it telling you WAITING FOR PLAYER and not letting you continue? Me and my wife setup to play all day long today and of the 7 hours we have been playing I'd say a solid hour of just dealing with bugs of all kinds - Audio dropping out, Complete game freezes, Massive slow downs exiting buildings and now this waiting for player deal. I love this game but Lordy it needed more time in the oven

Beat this tonight and while I encountered a few bugs here and there and a lot of crashes in an endgame area it was a lot of fun. Even with the issues I feel like Inxile really outdid themselves with the game. Definitely a marked improvement over Wasteland 2, Bards Tale 4 and the Torment game.

thats it then. you can have four rangers and two companions. if you found another companion you would have to replace either kwon or lucia with them despite "having a slot"
I don't know about that, I had 3 premade character and 3 companions in my party for the majority of the game.

For some reason my Xbox One controller will kinda just stop working in this game. Still detected in Windows, and some buttons are still detected (B, menu, view, and the analogs/dpad) but the A button and X button will straight up not respond. Any idea wtf the problem is? Super annoying to have to restart my PC just get back to playing.

Wouldn't be a big deal in my case if they just supported cross-save with console. could pop over to my Xbox One whenever it happens but I guess inXile decided not to implement that functionality for whatever reason.

Are you counting stuff like the provost or the clone as companions? I'm fairly sure the game restricts you from having more than two named ones. Or at least here, i never have the option of adding another third, i always have to replace either kwon or lucia.

You can have up to 4 companions, i beat my game in SJ with Lucia, Pizepi, Ironclad and Scotchmo.

It's possible the control scheme changed to KB/M. Next time this happens go to the menu and check that your control scheme is still on controller. You can't switch back and forth easily between KB/M and controller and when you're on KB/M the controller functionality is really weird/limited (which it sounds like you somehow got switched to)

The secret best ability is animal charmer. Can't tell you how many times Thomas Omaley and some rogue chicken have saved us
Just the 12% crit chance you get from cats is enough to invest, it's like weird science, they are good enough you can put a few points in all characters, makes fights a lot easier.

The honey badger is a beast. It crits for over 1k and has 6 attacks a round (if it doesn't need to move), and has over 1100 HP on ranger difficulty. He can pretty much solo most bosses in the game with a little luck. His ability is rather meh (2 extra turns after being downed) but otherwise it's crazy.

Yeah, curious about easy mode. Does it present some challenge at least? I'm absolutely not looking to get really frustrated with a game at this point in time but a little challenge is bad.

It's been great so far. Not so easy that it makes me feel like an idiot but I also haven't struggled with any encounters. I have to save scum every so often because I'll run right over mines or something and my party explodes, so there's a bit of a threat still.
