Yeah, I'm sure people just love having 4 hours of sleep during their work week for a video game. I'm also sure you've never read any of the glassdoor reviews.

Also, you want to know what happens to people who complain?

They don't get hired.
People who don't want to work 100 hours don't get hired? Really? I highly doubt that.

There are also positive reviews on the glassdoor website, so just pointing to those and claiming that this somehow disproves the notion that some people work 100 hour weeks completely voluntarily is bunk, and does a disservice to the argument you are trying to make.

I agree that there should regulations and unionization of the industry, because whether or not you want to work 100 hour weeks, it's a unhealthy prospect regardless. But again, this doesn't take away from the fact that there exist people who work those hours entirely voluntarily, and that we don't know from the statement this entire discussion is based upon whether or not Houser is talking about those people, or people who had to work against their will and to no benefit of their own.

You have somehow mistaken the statement of "people who complain don't get hired" and confused it with "people who don't want to work 100 hours don't get hired," which are two completely separate points. People who complain about working conditions publicly get blacklisted. I've seen it happen time after time. Don't put words in my mouth.

And yeah, of course, there are workaholics who love working as much as possible, but we aren't talking about those people. We aren't concerned about those people. We are concerned about how many people were made to work those 100-hour weeks when they didn't want or need to. Arguing about how there are some people who love it doesn't invalidate the point that the game studios love abusing their power and workforce to create games that make them big money.

But how do we know for a fact that this was the case here? Last time around, we had a very public and very straightforward letter. This time around we don't.

I don't how on Earth GTA VI could come this gen when you see the INSANE amount of work and ressouces necessary for RDR2.
RDR2, although being in development in 2010 was always going to be a next-gen game. GTA 5 was built to be a PS3/XBOX 360 game that eventually got ported to PS4/XBOX ONE. And of course, PC. Also, GTA 5 is way more dense in area with giant buildings, cars, pedestrians etc. which makes you have to sacrifice some things.

QA Project Manager for DICE on employment conditions:

That's sad to see. With a company pulling in as much money as they are you'd think they would have better time management and ways to do things.

If you need that amount of man hours for a game maybe do shift work? I can't see money being much of an issue for R*

Still surprised developers haven't managed to unionize.
