The only thing that will change for Americans, just like with 9/11, is they'll find someone new to blame and hate. 9/11 was hatred toward Muslims, this will be hatred toward Asians.
The global nature of the disaster indicates a change more like a world war.Things will find a new normal. They'll feel normal again, but there will be some major differences between how things were before and after. Like 9/11 but on a larger scale and impacting more areas of our lives.
No, there will be vast changes for Americans. mostly negative. The only thing that will change for Americans, just like with 9/11, is they'll find someone new to blame and hate. 9/11 was hatred toward Muslims, this will be hatred toward Asians.
Not even close to the level of both World Wars. The global nature of the disaster indicates a change more like a world war.
The people in here claiming this is a hiccup that we won't remember 2 or more weeks from now...I dunno how to tell you this but you have no idea what your life is about to become.
maybe it won't seem that way for poland but America was relatively untouched by the world wars
After 9/11 we all chose to give up personal privacy and certain liberties for the sake of national security.I see these opinions going around a lot. However, not to be negative, but humanity has a tendency to 'forget' really quickly. The bad and the good. Especially when it concerns their own (financial) well-being.
Don't think this crisis is going to change a lot. I do hope so though. Humanity could and must do better.
We also became even more racist. After 9/11 we all chose to give up personal privacy and certain liberties for the sake of national security.

The U.S was hit badly from WW1. The Spanish Flu has was already hitting the country and the economy only had a slight boom for a couple years after. It also too soon to see if it has greater impacts then 9/11.maybe it won't seem that way for poland but America was relatively untouched by the world wars
this is going to be a social trauma that will make 9/11 look mild
it is just happening in slow motion so people have not internalized the consequences yet
Things could lean a little more progressive for the world after this but I agree it is pretty naive to think we are going to get any major changes. These articles are hopelessly naive.
America made its choice. We don't want it. And not even this virus is a match for American "values".
Not in America, at least. But in Chile and other parts of the world will change for the better.
ABC News: 55% of Americans Approve Trumps Handling of Coronavirus Pandemic COVID
In the new poll, 55% of Americans approve of the president's management of the crisis, compared to 43% who disapprove. Trump’s approval on this issue is up from last week, when the numbers were nearly reversed. Only 43% approved of Trump's handling of the pandemic and 54% disapproved in last...www.resetera.com
Can't wait to see Trump become a social democrat in his second term

Yep. It's such an inherently conservative desire and so clearly not in tune with reality. Our society must radically change or we are all screwed.
Oh I wonder why things haven't improved in 5 months..........
Uh ok? Making massive leaps buddyI saw a tweet that called attention to the FDA or some such coming down hard on religious grifters for promoting Coronavirus "cures" like colloidal silver with cease and desist orders, and that used to be something government considered too difficult to regulate as a 1st Amendment issue. I am sure we will see far more environmental and health regulations in a Biden administration. I imagine most of the both-sides doomsayers here are Bernie voters; is your man going back to the senate and do nothing? Do you think Elizabeth Warren or AOC et al aren't going to fight for progress? Biden is going to sign whatever a Democratic-led House and Senate pass. Vote for Biden if you want any change!
You know one thing that'll get a lot of this to happen, is if young people voted in overwhelming numbers this fall. Aside from the vocal side of the Bernie bros it's pretty obvious people just don't fucking vote. Politicians will change their tune if they see 70% of the 18-29 somethings voting since they're the one wanting this stuff. If it doesn't happen w/ all these kids out of jobs now that everything in the service industry has imploded it never will.
Nah, we aren't going back to normal. There will be talk of "tightening belts" and "paying back" all this "good will" corporations and billionaires are "graciously" giving us. Can't wait to get brow-beaten by corporations and the GOP when things improve as they attempt to slash any safety net left to "balance" all this spending.
