To be fair, the department of state travel warnings aren't for Americans departing from America necessarily. They are warnings for Americans anywhere that want to travel anywhere. You'll also see things like don't enter x country over y land border and shit like that. It's to keep Americans safe abroad in general.
What is there to be fair about? NZ hasn't had any instance of Coronavirus in the general population for 100 days now. What else do Americans need to be kept safe from and warned about when traveling in NZ? Our lack of using high fructose corn syrup in everything? Our socialised health care? Liberal democracy with proportional representation?
it's a warning... the fair part is that the department of state website issues these all the time for all kinds of reasons. It's just putting out facts so that Americans abroad are aware.
The point is it is a warning which isn't actually based in reality. There is no community transmission of COVID19 in NZ, at all, and hasn't been for 100 days. The average American is more at risk of of catching Coronavirus visiting their local grocery store than they would be traveling to NZ.
Ive met one American in my life, and that was more than 20 years ago.
But if there is an american somewhere that is considering for some reason trying to get into New Zealand now, it's important for them to know the facts.
Probably 99 percent (stat from my ass) of the warnings On the dept of state site are warnings that you could ignore. It's just shit to be potentially aware of, not stuff to spend any more than 2 seconds thinking about. The facts are the US government is warning Americans erroneously. But I guess the US government misleading their citizens is kind of par for the course currently.
I wish he would die. No one deserves to die from Covid more than he does.
