I was going to joke about it being an Assassins Creed gatcha game, but this works
Cross-gen. Very few publishers are going to be making next-gen-only games this year, and Ubisoft certainly won't be doing that with Assassin's Creed. Probably expect something like Black Flag, where there's a competent (and content-complete) version on PS4/Xbox One and a clearly-superior version on PS5/XSX.

I think very few people wonder this, it's 95% sure a cross gen game.
Ubisoft China are teasing an announcement for 2000, Chinese time. That is 3.5 hours from now (minus a few minutes). If someone translated that to a Pacific Time that's different from that, then obviously that's wrong,

I calculated this assuming it's 4.5 hours from now. I was wrong so I already asked for the title to be changed to 5am.
I think the cross gen period will be longer this gen than it was last gen. If the consoles come out at a high price point as we go through a global recession then I assume sales will be lower than expected for the newer systems, and right now no one knows what will happen with the virus or the economy, so I would imagine most third party publishers will be cautious about green lighting non cross gen games for another year or so, which means we'll be seeing cross gen games coming out well into the 2020s

There's been a lot of chatter in the AC thread about a reveal today due to some Italian and French sites teasing it for today and some random fella popped in to say what a great day today would be so itshappening.gif
Yeah, it's totally plausible that we'll be seeing cross-gen titles into 2022.
I guess it partly depends on what decisions have already been made though. Last time around, Assassin's Creed Unity appeared in 2014 but development of that started just after Brotherhood released. If the PS4 and Xbox One had started off with really slow sales, it's not like Ubisoft could have converted that into a cross-gen game and released it on PS3. If there's a Unity-like boundary-pushing AC game in development intended for a 2021 release, it might not be possible to turn that into a PS4 release.

Its 2pm for europe, which sometimes is seen as "western", when muricans remember there are other countries in the world besides the USA.

That's certainly true, but I usually would expect these kind of things to come later in the day, prime time evening/night for Europe. It's probably nothing tbh, it just sticks out as a bit of weirdness to me.

Sure, I'm game. I do hope it's a big step forward from Origins and Odyssey. Excellent games, mind, but they were so damn long that I feel that it's a formula that already gave more than enough.
I would be so on board for a much smaller open world but more focused game. Odyssey was good but just so overwhelming.
