I'd say it's done some lasting damage to my view of the US. If it were even possible to ignore all of the crazy shit Trump said during the election campaign, I am stunned that he still enjoys support from a significant portion of the population.
There is obviously an ongoing issue with media and propaganda, but ultimately I can't help but feel that a combination of hateful ideologies and poor education standards are responsible for alot of this.
More importantly I feel like I'm watching the downfall of Rome in slow motion. I have no idea how this gets better before it gets worse. When you can't even get 40% of the population to trust major media networks, journalists and fact reporting - I am not even sure it's possible to address the problem at scale.
