Ow shut up, Troy. I remember the same hollow nonsense before MGSV came out.
Words and deeds, huge controversy, kojima breaking boundaries. And look how that ended up.
Massive, massive caution advised.
I'm expecting the opposite. Kojima is bullet-proof at this point. The game will be praised to the heavens regardless of how good it actually is.Yeah, I'm expecting a lot of backlash when the game comes out. There is no way it's going to deliver what a lot of old MGS fans want. So not sure how much irony there is in these tbh
Kojima did break boundaries with MGSV. Its openness in gameplay has only been matched by one game in almost 6 years.Ow shut up, Troy. I remember the same hollow nonsense before MGSV came out.

What? They only provide the likenesses? They're not doing the actual voice acting?*Gets his famous Film Director buddies to do some basic modelling work so that he can use their likeness to sell the game when the actual mo-cap and VA is being done by someone else who will inevitably not get the attention they deserve*
"So brave. So unique."
He didn't get to finish MGS5 so if he did it probably would have applied too, MGS5 could've been something else if large parts of it weren't cut after the Kojima-Konami mess.
The second best thing the release of this game will give us is the end of this marketing cycle. Depending on the game's quality it could also be the best thing.
What? They only provide the likenesses? They're not doing the actual voice acting?
It's sad, because the game looks good, but the more I hear from it the less I think about it. "It's more than just a game", "it'll be a statement". Did anyone yet say it's an "experience"? It sounds a bit pretentious to be honest.
Yep:
"I asked my bestie, Nicolas, to be "HEARTMAN" in DS as special guest. We 3D scanned his head, body, and facial expressions to make his 3D model, but his acting and voice are done by a different performer, same as with Guillermo"
Games aren't developed in a linear manner. Why you think them being finished means the other parts weren't being worked on I don't know. This is the case where i can't disagree with Konami in being not satisfied.
You can listen to licensed 80s music, steal posters, teach your horse to do business on command to make enemy soliders slip on it ... yet there's like ... a third of the game missing.
Maybe, just maybe, Kojima and team should've finished the game's full outline, having it playable and then add such detail stuff?
Marketing cycle may end, but the (deserved or not) constant hype / praise / naming it second coming of *insertyourmessiah* by the extreme side of Kojima/DS fans will sure stay for years ...
This just seems in line with Kojimas marketing bullshit every time he makes a new game

Troy Baker is an expert. This changes everything.Well if Troy Baker says that about Kojima developed game, it must be true
You win the thread.

Nah, i did not comment on the game itself, im saying this is the usual marketing shit when it comes to Kojimas gamesNah, that just means that you dont know what to expect, and because of that you go in all negative. Maybe its good, maybe its bad, we wont know until we try it.
I think its more than likely that this game will succeed, as its a kojima production. Mechanically its going to be top kek, for sure.
BELIEVE.
Do you see Ueda, Miyazaki or ND team talking pretentious drivel like that? Their works speak for themselves . Kojima is pretentious .Gamers: "Games are art, guys!"
Devs: "Our games are art."
Gamers: "So pretentious!"
If nothing else I'm excited for Death Stranding because it makes clear it has priorities other than gameplay.Gamers: "Games are art, guys!"
Devs: "Our games are art."
Gamers: "So pretentious!"

MGSV had an extended development time and an $80 million budget, and the end result of all of that was a game that was woefully unfinished. Konami is not a good company, but it's silly to not hold Kojima responsible for the state of MGSV as well. The whole "He didn't get to finish" thing always irked me for this reason. How long would it have taken? He didn't get to finish MGS5 so if he did it probably would have applied too, MGS5 could've been something else if large parts of it weren't cut after the Kojima-Konami mess.

clearly all the good that came out of MGS V is because of Kojima and him alone , while all the bad shit is on Konami and their evil CEOMGSV had an extended development time and an $80 million budget, and the end result of all of that was a game that was woefully unfinished. We live in a world where Twin Peaks The Return will never be as appreciated as it should. I can't see any video game coming close to that piece of art.
I've never played a Kojima game in its entirety (I played like 3/4th of MGSIV) but everytime I read about him he really does seem like a super pretentious person. It's sad, because the game looks good, but the more I hear from it the less I think about it. "It's more than just a game", "it'll be a statement". Did anyone yet say it's an "experience"? It sounds a bit pretentious to be honest.
