What? Sony is part of the subject of Crossplay and Fallout. You were making the claims it's only about Sony and crossplay with Fallout, which you've now accepted it's not.
Now can you answer my question? The one I've asked you many times.
I already told you I'm not answering your condescending and stupid question.
Sorry that wasn't meant to quote you!I'm not ok with Sony locking you out of your Fortnite account. I don't know where you got that from my post.
Logging into your Netflix account is a form of DRM. What point do you think you are making?
Huh. I said I don't know if it'll come to fruition, but the poll results are the poll results
I mean, with my experience running a small business, when people are happier with you, they tend to spend more money on your product. Make it frustrating to spend money and they spend less.
EDIT: Not that the amount of money any of these companies do or don't make should dictate whether we should be advocating for something as pro dev/consumer as crossplay.
Come on, we all know that's not going to happen. Besides, it's the publishers, not the developers, who generally decide what platforms receive these games.
Will it happen? No, probably not. If it were to happen, would Sony change their stance? I believe they would. If i remember right, FFXIV said that was one reason they didnt support Xbox, because at the time they werent doing Crossplay.
I could be wrong on that. If devs, or publishers really want crossplay, they could push for a change. Call sony's bluff and see what happens when they are threatened to lose out on a popular multi-million selling franchise.
Just to be clear, I'm for crossplay. What started this detour was the assertion that software publishers just want to sell software and something like crossplay helps them do it. My position is that I don't think that's necessarily self-evident. Sure, it's a pitch to help sell one copy of the game. But I do think there's a non-zero number of people that game on multiple platforms. Places like this may not be very indicative of the general gaming population, but people that double or triple dip are not completely made up. Someone out there may very well want a PC version for better graphics and mod support, but want the console version for a more active playerbase (as a for instance). Crossplay and crossplatform purchase support for DLC purchases disincentivizes any need for this.
Now again, the people persuaded to buy one copy that might have otherwise passed and their increased microtransaction purchases might outweigh lost multicopy buyers sticking to one copy from now on. But I also don't believe that there's a clear picture here of publishers pitching crossplatform advocacy as just being cynical software salesmen that aren't being pro-consumer but instead just trying to do anything they can to get you to buy their software.
It's not about what position they finish during NPD, it's about if they meet internal expectations. If they meet or exceed those expectations Sony couldn't care less about the Switch outselling the PS4.So lets Sony finishes second in the the june, july and august npd and gets outsold this fiscal year...
Would they become more open to the idea or stay the course?

Dude its just console war ammo. People dont care as shown in ps4 continuing selling crazy.
MS top dog? When was this? Before ps3 launched?I mean, I think we'd have reason to believe that this would happen anyway. I don't think there's been a single dominant player in the console space that hasn't ultimately been undone by their own hubris. Nintendo's crappy policies to third parties let Sega come in as an equal competitor, then the cartridge debacle lets Sony in. 599 US Dollars makes Microsoft top dog, only for them to surrender it with a generation later with their used game policies. This is just The Cycle. Sony's farther along on it than I had expected, but it's all going according to historical precedent.
Those of us on these boards don't really represent the general consumer. Go talk to the average joe, most don't really care but that could change if it gets a lot more media coverage or if a big pub pressures Sony by holding back content or something. It might be a bigger deal next gen and during the next console revealsYour theory has already been proved wrong by how many people on these threads actually care, which is apparent. Also I think console wars are juvenile and stupid. I own all consoles and PC because I like to play good games on whatever platform they're on. I also think Sony is being anti-consumer regarding cross-play and that the pressure they are receiving is absolutely justified.
Someone is going to have to explain to me why crossplay will all of a sudden POOF! (Sprinkles and Rainbows) be a big deal to Sony the moment next gen starts with the new console reveals...
People keep saying this. I keep scratching my head.
For the same strange reason that BC will suddenly matter next-gen but doesn't matter during this generation.Someone is going to have to explain to me why crossplay will all of a sudden POOF! (Sprinkles and Rainbows) be a big deal to Sony the moment next gen starts with the new console reveals...

I wonder if Sony will find a way to allow but totally half ass Cross console play to the point where its completely meaningless.
Like how they handled mods on Skyrim and Fallout 4 and restricted it so much it was completely pointless.
In my crystal ball I can eventually see on PS4, no cross progression, no cross plat voice chat or not cross platform parties but they will allow cross platform matchmaking for random hoppers.
Lol I can't even tell which posts are real anymore. "Pick carefully" ...its video games.
I seriously, seriously doubt that.

Of course, I agree their internal expectations are going to be the biggest factor moving forward, but I'm wondering how much of their current stance is cockiness that they are "king of the hill" for the moment.
But wait - so there will be PC/Xbox One crossplay in Fallout 76?
Because if not, these are just empty words. "Oh, I'm gonna say we would totally do crossplay if Sony would allow it but at the same time we're not doing PC-X1 crossplay"?
Sony is expecting to sell only 16 million units this year, thats their own expection, they prolly only going to make only that many units. So lets Sony finishes second in the the june, july and august npd and gets outsold this fiscal year...
Would they become more open to the idea or stay the course?
Judging from Laydens recent comments I think they will allow it in some form.Better yet I could see developers in the future simply exclude the ps4 version from cross play altogether if Sony keeps this stand. I mean why should developers have to maintain two sets of crossplay infrastructure (ps4/pc and pc/mobile/xbox/switch) because Sony doesnt want to play ball.
lol they would absolutely care this is nonsense
They will have to wait until the playing field is more level to try and call their bluff. No way devs and pubs are going to overlook 80 million gamers just to spite sony, business suicide. I mean, would would this hurt more? So either MS and nintendo make up the 24 million gap or devs just continue useing gamers and the media as a form of protest to pressure Sony, they can still make money off the massive user base while getting the message out that they dont like what Sony is doing. Will it happen? No, probably not. If it were to happen, would Sony change their stance? I believe they would. If i remember right, FFXIV said that was one reason they didnt support Xbox, because at the time they werent doing Crossplay.

Todd Howard is a huge influencer in this industry. So if Todd Howard says he's being upset after Sony for no crossplay, then the entire industry will heard it. It deserves a thread. It's not like it's "a random IGN journalist blames Sony for no cross play". It deserves it even more than "Reggie and Phil blame Sony" because Todd do develop games for the PS4.Are we going to make a thread each time a dev/pub says Sony doesn't allow cross-play?
Edit:
Just to be clear, I'm not defending Sony. It's shitty that they don't allow cross-play, they're being arrogant because they're leading this gen and it will definitely bite them in the ass (it's already started).
True, but lets not pretend the other companies would not be jerks in 1st place too.First Sony is Worst Sony
Hopefully their anti-player nonsense comes back to bite them sooner rather than later

Ugh!I don't care tbh there are enough ppl to play online with on PS4.
Maybe not on other platforms...

This.
No, but this is certainly the new intellectually dishonest narrative that is trying to be driven in defense of Sony sensei. So if he doesn't enable crossplay between Xbox One and PC does that mean he was just using Sony as a scapegoat and truly had no intention of adding crossplay to begin with?

Go ahead and tell us... Tell us the lotto numbers while you are at it.Is Sony stopping Todd from adding crossplay between Xbox and PC then? What's the excuse? It's a very fair point after the comments he made.
If no one is stopping him from doing it and he doesn't implement crossplay between X1 and PC after what he said then that means...
I'm sure you know exactly what I'm getting at.Go ahead and tell us... Tell us the lotto numbers while you are at it.
