I skipped the 4th season of Korra, so this thread was my first time seeing the Avatar fight Kuvira. Y'all weren't kidding, whew. Korra didn't just get bodied, she got utterly stomped. Not even Zuko got humiliated that badly when he fought his father.
I couldn't even finish that fight scene because I was so embarrassed for her.

Main character gets tortured for two episodes straight pretty much. Just when you think maybe there's someway for him and his captor to have a dialogue boom. beheaded. Brutally.
Going all Cold War, but Alec Lemas in The Spy Who Came In From The Cold (book & film). And whilst not Bond's end, having his wife killed in a drive by on their wedding day was a brave way to end a Bond movie.
Laurence Fishburne's character at the end of Event Horizon was great too, a descent that is the mirror opposite of Dave Bowman's transcendence at the end of 2001.
And the ending to both Solaris films is tragic but fitting.

Trying to turn an exhibition spar and a friendly enough PR gesture from the world champion into something serious like what a twat. What if he actually connected and jepordised a world title match?
It's such a great moment in the series especially considering Araki hasn't killed off a main protagionst since Jonathan so seeing Jolyne sacrifice herself is such a suprising moment
I really like how much of a dick he is in the movie. The way he kills Bob Morton was gangster as hell.
When it comes to super-heroes getting curb-stomped, first thing that comes to my mind is Morlun vs Spider-man:
JMS's Spider-Man run is VERY uneven, with some really awful lows, but The Other had some bright spots. Pete getting his fucking eyeball snatched out of his skull was wild to see.
After that they just became another villain organizations and their Talons went from one giving Batman the fight of his life and afterwards they're basically hand ninjas

Walter White having his money stolen and his brother in law killed in front of him. All hubris of his actions and completely destroy what's left of the person. From there on only a killer remains.

It's pretty nightmare inducing, yeah. I mean, he's the protagonist and it's REALLY early in the movie but it certainly sets the tone watching a dude get turned into hamburger. At the same time, it's definitely Verhoeven in the "best" way once he started doing action movies for Hollywood.
This. He's always bodied when he goes up against a speedster. Doesn't matter how fast or slow a speedster is he will find a way to get bodied.
I don't share OP's perspective of "enjoyment", but I understand what they were trying to convey - the Eclipse in Berserk was harrowing and impactful to me in ways few other events in fiction have been. I had to put the book down for a while.

This was pretty brutal, but MC pays this dude back in spades in the manga lol. Like permanently fucks up his arm and face.
Luffy vs Kaido is my all time favourite, I had to take a few minutes when I first read it. I was shocked lol.
Aizen blocking Ichigo with one finger was awesome too and also Aizen vs everyone.
Eclipse in Berserk is crazy too but it's too gruesome for me :P

Ricardo destroying Ippo with nothing but jabs was such a great way of showing how much stronger Martinez is than everyone else.
Ah. That's pretty ceremonious and very built up, really.
