People have been complaining far longer than that.Your "review process" should have been people complaining about it for the last 20 years.
Sports culture fucking sucks. You still have plenty of Penn State supporters even after the fact.To be clear, this is the right move (sorely overdue), I'm just going to not be surprised when current fans can't let it go.
Better name in every way.
Nah, no way he can do some bullshit now."He said that he wants the new name to be both respectful to the culture of Native Americans and also pay homage to the U.S. military."
It's still gonna be shit innit?

When Amazon, FedEx, Pepsi, Nike, and Wal-Mart said it had to go or they would discontinue selling their products and sponsorships, he had no choice at all.
This is why you obtain the new name before you announce that you are changing it.
Wow, had no idea he was from Washington, DC.They should name the team after a local hero.
The Washington Grohls
I thought he was born in VA?

Nothing else could have made this happen.
Sorry, I was confused. He was born in Ohio, moved to Virginia, then moved to Washington I guess.
Think it's kind of funny they use the name and logo on their official retirement statement.
You laugh now but
I think they're talking about the Cleveland Indians, a baseball team. It's named after the founder of the team, why would you change it?
Essentially, yeah - there's still a lot of debate over those names, since it's still white people appropriating native iconography, but they're not quite as open-and-shut as the slurs and racist caricatures. There's nothing offensive about "braves" or "chiefs," it's just a question of whether they're appropriate as team names.
you forgot the caps
They are doing it only because of pressure from advertisers. The NFL should force out the owners.
FC/DC
I somehow had no idea there was not a single wolf/canine team in the NFL until I read this.
Oh wow. That flew right over my head. Makes sense.I think they're talking about the Cleveland Indians, a baseball team.
