I'm actually pretty curious to see what they can get for unveils.
Like, going through the list, at least for unannounced titles:
- It's very late in the gen, and most 2019 games are already revealed, along with a few early 2020 games, and it's not clear people would be willing to unveil Day 1 crossgen games yet.
- People who know things seem to insist that Rocksteady's next game isn't being unveiled until at least early next year, or maybe not even until E3.
- Harry Potter is apparently a late 2020, so we're unlikely to get a formal unveil so early.
- Warner Montreal is a tire fire.
- Netherrealm is not impossible, but it depends if their next game is actually for this generation. IIRC it's supposed to be something that's not Injustice or Mortal Kombat if it's this gen.
- The Avengers was supposed to unveil this year, but I'm not convinced that fake wasn't rebooted mid process, so that might not be true anymore.
- Im not clear on what generation Peopke Can Fly's new game is for.
- Otherwise, Square Enix feels kind of unlikely to announce Japanese games here. They've never done that before, right?
- Splinter Cell was still in the concept pitching stage as of E3 2017 according to Yves Guillemot, and Ubisoft takes forever with their heavy reworks, so I doubt that's ready.
- It's most likely too early to show Avatar, given we haven't even seen anything from the second film to my knowledge.
- Watch Dogs 3 was being heavy teased last year, so that's probably one of Ubisoft's few remaining current-gen games that could be shown.
- I honestly don't think Bethesda/ZeniMax has any unannounced games left for this gen that aren't mobile, and I'm not sure Geoff is willing to show mobile games.
- Over at Activision Blizzard, I guess Toys For Bob has a new IP that could plausibly be this generation given we've already seen a clip of it on their job site.
- The only thing that feels plausible out if EA is either an EA Original titles or maybe Respawn's Star Wars game, but normally EA doesn't market things until 6 months prior to release.
- Take-Two does have a new IP from Firaxis they could plausibly show, but I'm not sure if this is the right audience.
- This doesn't feel like a ridiculous time to show Borderlands 3, assuming that the game didn't get delayed for multiple years. Probably one of the most likely options.
- BioShock 4 is super early.
- Hangar 13 is unlikely to ship another game this gen.
- Rockstar is unlikely to ship another game this gen.
- Ken Levine is unlikely to ship another game.
- All of Private Division's games are 2020+ IIRC.
- Namco will plausibly have either some anime game they think will appeal in the West.
- Namco has also been making a Fast & Furious game with Slightly Mad for a long time, and this would be an appropriate venue.
- I'm not sure this is the right venue for Company of Heroes 3.
- Creative Assembly's new IP would fit, but I very strongly suspect that's crossgen and won't get shown.
- I can't imagine Sega Japan showing anything.
- Capcom... it's not impossible. Maybe the Monster Hunter expansion? It's not clear to me what they actually have coming up in the short term.
- THQ Nordic will probably have something, but those are usually pretty low profile games.
- On the THQ note, Deep Silver is working on a variety of things, but Volition sounds like they got the entire studio rebooted, and I'm not sure if whatever Dambusters was making prior to the Time Splitters Ip purchase (which was not long ago) still exists.
- I really doubt Koei Tecmo would be there.
- I'm going to assume I don't have to justify excluding Konami.
- Microsoft feels like they're mostly focused on next gen, but I could imagine more formally showing off Halo, if we count that as unannounced.
- I'd be surprised if Sony announces a big new AAA game for this gen outside maybe a new Gran Turismo.
- Nintendo is mid-gen so they have a few options. Metroid feels like the most obvious choice if they're ready.
- I'm not sure Bayonetta 3 is ready to show.
- Well, Cygames did imply they're announcing another new game this year, and did say they wanted to make an impression in the West...
- I'm not sure if there are any publishers I missed.
I'm expecting a pretty heavy focus on showing new content for announced games due to where we are in the generation, with next year having way more brand new announcements.
