The ending twist of MGS 3 basically turned the game from a fun game with an okay story to one of the best stories of its generation.
The apartment segments happen out of order with the actual levels you play. You're not the only one getting the phone calls, either.
Right??? Like... it makes sense but... oh man, it hurt me. And the other person:I loved how me being an asshole to her eariler ended up actually saving her life by making her not believe my warning
Yup, that's the one. It had a huge impact on me. I think it's one of the greatest video game endings ever.Silent Hill: Shattered Memories' twist is AMAZING. The only game that ever made me feel the same way I did watching The Sixth Sense for the first time. A fantastic ending and pay off to a fantastic game.
Indeed.it's also cool as a metacomentary on the Idea of perceived freedom in games.

Alyssa - I guess I missed a chance to warn her so she didn't trust me/thought I was causing terrible things to happen to her and it doomed her.
I thought I had, but I guess I missed something somewhere. :(I had no idea that could happen to Alyssa. Makes me glad I always took the time to check in on her and make sure nothing bad happened to her.
I dont really remember it having a plot twist? Just some wild story beats.
Still my favourite.
It's funny because that's only like a third of the amazing fuckery of Trespasser twists. Not only is
Metroid - Samus was a woman
I always wondered how they avoided spoiling it in the instruction manual or Nintendo Power. Did they just never refer to Samus using pronouns?
Came here to post this. The ending twist of MGS 3 basically turned the game from a fun game with an okay story to one of the best stories of its generation.
Can you specify is you are talking about Nier 1 or automata because i still haven't played automataObviously inspired by the recent "the worst plot twists" thread, what are some of the best plot twists in gaming?
For me, it's NieR
"You're the bad guy" is putting it lightly here. Not only are you, quite literally, the bad guy in the form of the villain the Shadow Lord who is simply NieR from an earlier point in time. But you are also the bad guy in that you were unknowingly slaughtering hundreds of innocents who took the form of your typical jrpg grunts and your actions cause the end of the human race to become inevitable
At this point we need a name for this Era Syndrome where a negative ranking thread gets immediately countered with a positive one.
Favorite plot twist: Ganon is the good guy in WW.
I dont recall mgs3 having a big plot twist compared to mgs2 or even 1. What was the plot twist in 3 anyway? The ending twist of MGS 3 basically turned the game from a fun game with an okay story to one of the best stories of its generation.

This game had about ten great twists but the final hour was extraordinary.
It's a common thing in Reddit too. Every question gets a thread with an opposite or related question. At this point we need a name for this Era Syndrome where a negative ranking thread gets immediately countered with a positive one.

I am curious about this, too. I just did a recent re-play of HM1 and 2 and never noticed this.
Very well said, and it's one of the reasons I love that game's story and it's in-world history. Few videogame stories have stuck with me as much as HZD, and I'm always happy to revisit it in my mind.Horizon Zero Dawn's multistage plot twist was well done in how fleshed out it was. Not just a one sentence twist for the sake of a twist, but a grand reveal that makes you invested in comprehending both the wide scope and details of what occured. It also takes time to show the emotional impact on the characters, showing that its actual effect within the story, rather than just trying to impress the audience.
Explain? Lucas was shown to be a bad seed, but not Jack or Marguerite.Which doesn't fit at all with the files showing they were bad long before Eveline arrived.

This and KOTOR are up there
