I just got into Tetris 99 the other day and it's excellent. Only been playing online since I haven't bought the other content yet, but it still works very well as an easy game to just pick up and play a round or two while waiting for something. Or just spend all evening with it. :p Being used to TGM2 I am trying to unlearn being able to rotate after a harddrop, kinda wish it was in this too.
I wish they could officially port TGM2/3 as I would love to play them on a handheld. There was this fanmade TGM(2?) game for DS that was shut down. Need to find that rom cartridge again. It was pretty damn good!

On TETR.IO you can set SDF to Max to emulate the sonic drop in the TGM series in an otherwise guideline Tetris environment.
As for TGM on DS, it sounds like you're referring to LTAP but it could also be NDS_TGM as it's more widely known.
Cool I will check tetr.io out. I have had this dislike of browser based games based on ooooold experiences, so I haven't really tried any out. I know it is different today though.
Ah yes. NDS_TGM. I got my mom hooked on it years ago.
There's a downloadable version of Tetrio available too, but the web version runs using WebGL so it feels like a native app. Just pull up your browser in fullscreen and you'll be none the wiser.

They have periodically had Maximus cups that give you the ability to claim past themes, but not sure how often they might have them or if they might repeat any. I'd guess it depends on how active the game continue to be
