Season 2 is one of the most over-the-top sequel seasons of a streaming comedy series of all time.
Show might just not be for you, unfortunately. Season 2 is more action-y than season 1 but, I think, worse written (still great, but not as great).
Oh man, Mike Barnes might be the franchise's biggest psycho, and that's saying something.
Yeah really hoping he turns up in this because of it. The more ridiculous the better in this show
The bonsai tree scene in 3 is about the most ridiculous point in the entire thing.
I wouldn't, the end of S1 provides excellent context for the sugar rush of S2.

Really? It would have made no sense to have him in any sooner considering the story so far.
If you don't fall in love with Johnny as a character then you're not going to like the rest of it. Its his relationship with the kids that really shines in that first season and gets carried into subsequent seasons.
You're also not really supposed to like Daniel too much in the beginning so there's a lot of character and plot development around that aspect.
It's just funny as I've said before of all the 70s/80s/90s movie sequels using the "it's the old characters + next generation!" setup, Karate Kid/Cobra Kai of all IP gets it right and so many others fail, lol.
Cobra Kai being as good as it is made me retroactively start appreciating the KK movies.
Dude looks good for his age.
Hell, all the original cast aged well.
If you watch the credits, you'll notice Will Smith is executive producer on Cobra Kai.

I knew of Robert Garcia before I ever saw Karate Kid 3. But when I finally watched 3 a few years ago I was like wtf? Terry silver is the inspiration for Robert! They look alike, dress alike, both are rich. Only thing different is one is a villain.

Just finished season 2 and whilst great, it did seem to lose some of the groundedness of the first season. Where does Season 3 sit on the scale ?

Imo the showrunners were smart to have the characters (and world around them) react with horror to the escalation of S2, and spend much of the season dealing with the fallout of how ridiculous it was.
