Huh. Weird. I wonder how I can get rid of it. I'll try some of the usual things.
EDIT — I figured it out. If you have extra wings attached but no guns, it will show the prompt. If you just have the Laser Cannon & Arwing wings, no prompt.
I'm playing most of the game in co-op and it holds up pretty well. It's still graphically pretty but the framerate isn't as stable, especially when there are a lot of enemies on screen (not entirely common thus far). It works really well if you're set on following the waypoints and doing a mission, but if you just want to take some time to explore and such, there is an annoying tether system that doesn't let you go too far from your partner. The co-op is drop in/out at anytime so I've been exploring in single player and advancing the story in co-op.I definitely feel like Ubi could've been better off ditching the whole toy mechanic and just selling it on the game alone. Looks a great space/planet combat game, of which there aren't a lot of. Graphics and art style are cool. Starfox stuff... I know I was into it when they first unveiled the footage, but then was kinda meh once I realized all the toy to life integration. I think it'd have found a better audience just a straight $60 space combat game - especially since you can just play the game without them anyway.
That said, I'm totally getting it...just not at launch. Still need to finish Octopath and Dark Souls just came in the mail today. Will probably pick up around the holidays. While it will be sad to see a decent game bomb, hopefully that means I can swipe a physical starter kit from the bargain bin around then.
Also...anyone try the co-op on switch? how is it?
Dont you think they are sort of testing the waters with this though? I mean, they can easily relaunch it without the toys at a lower price and more content later on? Or do you think they missed their chance?
So I think I've encountered some kind of game breaking bug or corrupted save file...Playing on Switch and I'm not that far in - Level 7 and I just started the quest to build a refinery. However, when I booted up my save, the dialogue and audio for the Star Fox mission started playing (even though I was on a surface of a planet, not in the space encounter). This happens every time, and I can play for 2-3 minutes and then the game crashes (generic message "The software was closed because an error occurred.") Tried rebooting the Switch and still getting the error.
Anyone else run into similar issues? Would suck to have to start over.
So I might have experienced a glitch? I decided to go on a sidequest that turnes out to expand on the characters ans dueing the middle of this i was told to start a windmill or something idk, apparently I coulsnt make the jump bur I misread the sirecrion icon and jumped over anyways, jumped back and the prompt isnt there, it looks similer to a mechanic they just showed me dor the last part of the sidequest but when I go to it it does nothing, itd lotterally .1 on the thing, and i already restarted the hame to do it again and again nothing.
Oh, of course! It felt like that thing was underusedDid you go back and get the plug you attached to the first one? You have to bring it with you each time for this one.
I'm a little surprised nobody's posted this video yet:
It's not a full-blown review or anything, just my favorite blue muppet, Arlo, gushing over Starlink and the toys like a fanboy. The amount of infectious squee in this video puts a smile on my face.
I forgot which station the first one is at. Can you give me the name of the station again? I'm stuck on the final 2 canisters.Did you go back and get the plug you attached to the first one? You have to bring it with you each time for this one.
So is the Dreadnaught the final battle in the game? I like how this is all structured With the primes and the extractors app feeding the dreadnaught power.

My copy crashed 13 times. I didn't get through the opening cutscene from a new game start even once.
Hoping they'll have stock to exchange tomorrow if redownloading the additional data doesn't fix it.
All the videos I've seen though have me so curious about this game.
Oh hey yeah. This is the message im getting.
Hope this does well, really having a good time with it. It's definitely everything NMS should have been. Sure, it doesn't have the scale, but it's much more focused and doesn't feel like....work.
No, I would say that is pretty much the end of the tutorial section. You're at about the halfway point.
As someone who works in marketing, that's not an easy thing to do at all. The time and resources to educate the public on that would be immensely expensive, not to mention new packaging, new shelf space, etc. It's not out of the question, but they definitely wouldn't have launched Starlink like this as a "testing the waters" thing, knowing they had a plan B of just relaunching it if need be..
Digital version is already a pretty good deal if you're not interested in the toys.
I think having Starfox in the switch version is going to be the only thing that will help the game sell on that platform and that switch sales will be much higher than on other platforms. Its the only reason I will be picking up the game. In terms of the future, if this has bombed hard on all other platforms I can see Ubi scrapping the IP and using the engine and assets in this game to just make a brand new StarFox game in collaboration with Nintendo.

Reporting for duty. After having no issues over several sessions the last few days, tonight I got the "The software closed because an error occurred" message three play attempts in a row. According to some Googling, there have been isolated incidents of that message popping up for people on the Switch since launch. The most common fix seems to be formatting your SD card (after copying everything over to the PC for safekeeping, of course), which is what I'm in the process of doing - though it's taking hours, so I'll have to let the transfer finish overnight.
But it may not have anything to do with the SD card in this instance. Us three are already having the problem with Starlink, and someone on gamefaqs is asking about the exact same thing. As someone who reads video game forums every day, I've never once seen this issue talked about in relation to a specific Switch game before, so the fact that there are at least four of us now all talking about it in the span of a few hours makes me think it's a problem with Starlink in particular. Which is another oddity - I've not seen this error message reported until tonight, despite the game having been out for several days already. As far as I can tell, there wasn't a patch today that could have theoretically broken something.
Anyway, best of luck to everyone. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this soon!
Well, that's what I get for trying to be relevant. And I even used the "Search this thread" function, too. Guess I'll slink back under my desk in shame...
Yeah, I haven't seen a single advertisement for this anywhere outside of Nintendo's channels. Granted, I didn't see anything for Skylanders either, but at least that had in-store displays for the toys.Yeah, thats what I dont get though - how DID they actually launch this? I mean; I saw nothing about this anywhere except the Nintendo Direct and eshop.
Nice - I'm glad that worked for you!I went ahead and archived the game and then redownload the update. It seems like it may have corrected whatever is wrong? I've been able to play for about an hour now and it hasn't crashed yet.
Yeah, that was the first thing that I had tried, but I couldn't even get to the mission before it would crash - I'd be lucky to get 2-3 minutes of gameplay and I was far away from the mission. I think the issue might have been resolved though...will talk more about that down below.

Unfortunately, I've had worse luck. I woke up this morning after having finished the formatting and transfer process of my entire SD card... and after reinserting it into the Switch, the system doesn't even recognize the card. Now I'm trying to transfer everything over to the other spare SD card I have, but if that doesn't work, I'll probably have to send my entire Switch in for repairs. Joy!

I guess one option is to just not do that. I didn't know the system worked like that though, good to know just in case lolLoving the game, but I don't like that you are basically invincible in the game with the Starlink system. When your ship is going down, just change to another ship and it will recover. Rinse and repeat. Impossible to die if you cheese the system like that.
I'm trying to, but it's really hard to resist, lol.I guess one option is to just not do that. I didn't know the system worked like that though, good to know just in case lol
On the channels my kid watches (cartoon network, Disney xd, etc.) nintendo ads are on every day, all day - Mario kart, super Mario party, switch, 3ds, all the time. Not a single starlink ad.It's a game aimed first and foremost at children, so I'm sure the bulk of their marketing was spent on TV/YouTube ads that kids would more likely see than adults
Really tiring out on this game quickly. About ten hours in and honestly all the missions are just blending into each other.
There's no news about it coming to PC at the moment.
So each pilot comes with a superpower, but does the choice of pilot add anything else to the experience?
For star fox missions, if you're not using fox, the pilot you use has small affirmative responses while Fox himself continues his usual dialogue as a bystander. So each pilot comes with a superpower, but does the choice of pilot add anything else to the experience?
Can I plop down my ship and pilot on the included stand but actually play the game with a separate set of joycons? Seems silly to have to hold up the ship for the entire length of my playtime.
Currently rocking the ice and siege lift missile launcher combo. Sure, damage throughput is rather meh, but the elemental combos are nice against groups of enemies. Plus, it's just nice to be able to take at least two enemies out of the fight, floating around like a balloon or being frozen in place.
