This feels like a very strange comment. PC Gets the vast majority of "Legendary" games day one, unless your only definition of legendary games are Sony/Nintendo 1st party titles, and a lot of big hits start out only on pc before they get console ports.
I might be wrong but I feel like in the last 13 years of so the highest rated games have been Rockstar games or big releases on Sony and Nintendo platforms. The Rockstar and even some of the Sony stuff does come to PC, but its not day one.

When I say legendary I am talking about a Mario Galaxy, Half Life, Last of Us type of game. I don't feel like the PC has had that kind of moment for a long time when it used to get them all the time.

Any way to hack the Xbox bios clock so we can play now? LOL there's most likely a day one patch so it would be best to wait regardless.

For those interested, Kinda Funny (including Parris) has a Gamescast episode where they discuss how they'll be approaching their review. Parris is the lead reviewer and he plans on going hard (dude works a day job but he's taking multiple weeks off work). Also some good conversation on how BG3 will or won't impact their enjoyment of Starfield (Parris isn't playing it until after Starfield).

- YouTube

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

So that's why developers are worried about BG3 🤣

What do you consider a long time? Because Alyx was released in 2020 and is still a PC exclusive.

I think they have some good dialogue on that. I personally think there's some burnout factors in playing two really expansive, long RPGs back-to-back. But this is something reviewers are generally used to and I think the conclusion is ultimately, if Starfield is good enough, that won't be a concern. Kinda Funny doesn't have a lot of crpg enthusiasts on staff, but even they've been enthralled by the game, so it'll be interesting to see how Starfield stacks up for them.

Elden Ring and The Witcher 3 are pretty legendary in my book and were/are a bigger deal than BG3, so I don't agree that BG3 is the first legendary game PC got in 13 years (unless you mean an exclusive game, which BG3 isn't anyway). And that kind of statement feels very premature for BG3 anyway, considering that it's just released and people are still in the honeymoon period. It's a great game, but I'm not sure I'd call it legendary. It's about on par with DoS2 for me (which PC also got day one). Let the dust settle first.

Not to interject here ;), but some examples of recent 10/10 calibre PC day 1 releases:

- Baldur's Gate 3
- Forza Horizon 5
- MS Flight Simulator
- Elden Ring
- Street Fighter 6
- Divinity: Original Sin II
- The Witcher 3
- Half-life Alyx
- Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker
- Psychonauts 2
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Resident Evil 2 Remake

Indies
- Disco Elysium
- Dwarf Fortress
- Dave the Diver
- Beat Saber
- Chained Echoes

Like, it feels to me like people would somehow relate what they perceived as legendary games to hype, awards received, and Metacritic score etc. It's really a pretty personal thing, but if we are looking at metacritic, all of these are of that calibre. PC is pretty stacked.

I have played very few of those. A lot of those games are really amazing. For legendary I would probably put Alyx, Eldens Ring and BG3 in that category. Mostly by reviews and hype. Alyx is you need VR though so I kind of feel that is a different thing. But it is definitely a subjective thing.

And my perception might be biased by attention you see on this board, which definitely slants towards Sony and Nintendo.

FSR 3 frame generation working on RTX 30 and 20 series Nvidia graphics cards (since a lot of people own those) in this game could really soften the blow of it not having DLSS but I can't see it working that way. :(

If it works on RDNA 3, I'd hope it also works on RTX 20 and 30. I'm not aware of any tech that RDNA 3 has that those cards don't have, but I could certainly see a scenario where the lower end cards are weak at it.

Reviews are subjective. I think it's great for everyone to have a few reviewers they share similar tastes with, and that can be a specific writer for a gaming website like IGN or some YouTuber/Podcaster.

I do, however, think review aggregation provides a fantastic insight on video games, and it gets as objective as you can possibly get with something inherently subjective.

I think it's not just console wars but Bethesda the company. They are loved by many but the people who hate them very aggressively hate them. It's like Bethesda kicked their dog. I think actually some of it comes from old school fallout fans who really do feel like Bethesda "kicked their dog" (ruined fallout).

Some of it as well is from how shitty a company they have been. Not BGS specifically, but the parent company and ID and Zejimax Online, etc etc. but a lot of that just extends to the general company.

Most gamers don't care about stuff like that. Or Insomniac and CDPR (pre-Cyberpunk disastrous release) games' launches would have been treated the same way too.

I don't really see Arkane or MachineGames or id Software getting the same discourse or scrutiny BGS does.

I think part of it comes from Fallout 76 releasing in such a shitty shape, as well as prior releases being fairly buggy - although Fallout 3->Skyrim->FO4 releases were getting better launch day bug wise.

There is undoubtedly a lot of console warring which Starfield has been the brunt of due to MS buying Zenimax. Starfield is by far the biggest game that will be releasing under the MS umbrella out of all their company acquisitions over the years.

LMAO....I have been thinking the same thing. Feels tough knowing that the game is sitting there on my SSD in the Series X and my SSD on the PC and I can't play it.

I need to become a reviewer.

I used to be a reviewer of sorts. For corporate purposes, not public. But it's not as fun as it sounds. It's cool to play a game earlier than everyone else but ultimately it is still a job and your mindset changes when you are reviewing a game as opposed to playing it.

I'm one of those people (I do belive they ruined Fallout) and haven't enjoyed a game of theirs since Morrowind lol. That being said, never felt in any way or at any point agressively towards them and their games, just totally indifferent and I guess at times baffled by their success. I'm also pretty excited for Starfield, despite all of that. The setting and aesthetic along with that fantastic direct, definitely pulled me in.

The reviews mean very little to me when it comes to this game. All their previous games scored very high and I never "got" them, so a higher or lower score won't really be indicative of anything when it comes to my enjoyment of it. But of course I wish for it to score as highly as possible... don't see why anyone (who isn't hiding an ulterior motive) wouldn't want that lol. The tiring discourse around the game is 100% related to the exclusive nature of the game (on both sides).

Just ignore it then, problem solved :p

I found the discourse to Last if Us 2 frustrating, in ways I normally don't get frustrated because at the end of the day it is online bullshit. But it was (and is) impossible to have a reasonable discussion on that game without both sides chirping yo. So in the end I just ignored it. You have that power to do so.

I do not see what the point of ignorantly jumping into two threads to act like the PC platform is starving for GOTY caliber games and then doubling down. Stop it lol

Don't worry I've already had it flowing past me since the 2022 reveal. This game is gonna be a monster lmao

Yeah, seems like your focus is on traditionally console style games. PC has by far the most legendary releases out of any platform, just maybe not the platformer or third person action adventure that this forum seems to love.

I'd take Civ 6 over any Nintendo/PS exclusive any day of the week just as an example (and no don't care it has a console version lol, that's a K&M game).

I wanna see those reviews, as if Xbox store reviews weren't always hilarious anyway.

IDK why Microsoft still even allows for reviews prior to the release, or possibly by people that do not own the game.

On one hand, I'm incredibly excited to see this but on the other hand, damn it's gonna be a long wait now that all these major creators and gaming personalities will essentially not talk about Starfield at all for the next two weeks lol!

srsly... I have work to do, but just refresh my watched threads list. Occasionally check my countdown app on my phone. Then back to the forums. Then back to my phone.

All that in 5 minutes. lol

This is the problem with office jobs IMO. I'm a grown man with a house and family, but damn, sitting at the office every day and being too hyped for Starfield makes me do exactly that :P

The second screen is always looking at Starfield stuff. But I also want to avoid spoilers. I have a small brain lmao

I don't mean to offend anyone's opinions but I would give a 10 to maybe one game in that list. 10 to me is a revolutionary experience not just a "really fuckin fantastic game" I feel like 10s are handed out way too easily now. 10s are sacred to me.

Agree. I could maybe name you 10 games that I've played in 30+ years that I might consider 10/10 games.
But the numbers system in video game reviews (or TV/Movie reviews) is completely broken anyway. A 5-7/10 should be considered average to solid, but anything below a 7 is basically trash.
