In which point do you think Batman series do better while this won't?I cant believe people are predicting 90+
I mean I think it is going to be great (87), but it is not crossing 90 imo.
Critics are seemingly harsher this generation. Look how long it took for a single game to score at or above 95In which point do you think Batman series do better while this won't?
I know, but we know why Arkham Knight got a 87. In that game we don't have such deep and detail story about Bruce. And swinging in this game is more fun. Why predict it is lower than Arkham Knight?Critics are seemingly harsher this generation. Look how long it took for a single game to score at or above 95
Wait, Arkham Knight got an 87?! Well...that's a shock. Huh. Well, something else to consider here is that just because Arkham Knight got an 87, doesn't mean that Spider-Man will score at least as high, even if it's likely to be a better game. If it does, than Insomniac Games should be very happyI know, but we know why Arkham Knight got a 87. In that game we don't have such deep and detail story about Bruce. This is also something I considered, which is why I said 87-92. Based on the unanimously glowing impressions I can't see this game doing any worse than that. On par is probably the minimum if the rest of the game continues at that pace and it is what it has all but explicitly shown to be.I know, but we know why Arkham Knight got a 87. While it might play overly safe with it's overt Arkham influences, more content with taking the familiar road than risk venturing into new territory, this is hardly a major detriment as the Arkham design template fits Spidey like a glove. In the absence of any real Arkham successor, a series already potentially overstaying its welcome, Spider-Man sufficiently fills the genre void with tightly executed game design and a confident presentation that supplants Batman's dark and gloomy Arkham with Spider-Man's colourful style of adventure and spirit. The core adventure comes to its conclusion a little quicker than expected, and New York City has little in the way of major diversions other than trinket hunts and the occasional side mission, but the time spent within is worth the investment. Rich with personability and identity, Insomniac's Spider-Man is an excellent starting point in what we can only hope with lead to longer, more content dense adventures in the future.
+ Tight, responsive gameplay that channels the essence of Spider-Man in exploration and combat.
+ Gorgeous presentation, in visuals and sound, oozing atmosphere and identity.
+ Enjoyable, well paced campaign with great callbacks and references for hardcore Spidey fans.
- Safe game design may feel a little too familiar for Arkham veterans.
- Short campaign and limited story rich side content.
- Occasional performance hitches on vanilla PlayStation 4. Pro recommended.
8/10
What do you expect red dead to get?I'm expecting low 90s, an Arkham Asylum-style reception of seeing a favorite hero getting the first worthy game in over a decade, the intrigue of seeing Insomniac's version of the mythos a la Rocksteady's take on Batman's characters and stories, and single-player missions that are more in line with the scripted spectacle and momentum of scenarios in a linear game but done in an open world as we've seen in the E3 missions.
Currently replaying Arkham Knight and honestly the Spider-Man game looks like what Rocksteady's freeflow design was destined to complement. While the freeflow combat system worked well for capturing Batman's skill, everything about the combat system - from the counter mechanic (aka Spider-sense) to how Batman leaps across the screen and flips over enemies (aka classic Spidey agility) to the grapple (aka webbing) - just screams Spider-Man in every way. Other game since Arkham has copied the freeflow design because it's popular but Spider-Man is the first game since Asylum that seems like it makes perfect sense to have such a system because it suits the character so well.
About the same. Not quite the 95% that RDR 1 has simply because 1 was the first time we got a western game that captured the essence of the genre, and because the immersive sim-esque approach of 2 isn't going to widely appeal to everyone. Although I'm prepared to be surprised; if there's one company that make that kind of approach to an open world appeal to a wide audience, it's Rockstar
I'm not a mod, but you can start it anytime. I'm READY. I'M READY! YEAAAAAAAAAA! SPIDER-MAN, SPIDER-MAN!
