Ah right. My bad. Sorry fella.

You're right, but wasn't it their statement that turned this into such big news? People were doubting the original article when the only source was that ESA announcement. Maybe they could have let people speculate until they were ready to clearly state what their plan is.
And what's the point? ESA would release list of participants anyway. You're right, but wasn't it their statement that turned this into such big news? I don't think they'd prioritize the hardcore/first adopter market over what they got with the PS4 launch. I think the PS4 showed them that they can make a console that's appealing to that crowd in terms of raw power as well as a console that's appealing to a more casual audience in terms of price. And that's where the money really is. Because if you play those cards right it allows the console to hold its price longer since they aren't panicking trying to figure out how to make it sell. And of course the games are selling really well and making money because the console is selling so well.
Which is exactly what they're doing. Sony announce when they want to even if it seems to cause bad press.
Look at cross play, something that dominated this forum now doesn't even figure in the conversation and doesn't appear to have damaged them

Fixed and added my own predictions. Honestly I think Sony has a pretty good hold for the first 2-3 years of the PS5 if my predictions (more like assumptions) come true.Looking at SCE dev pipeline:
Manchester (VR Game?) (2019)
The Last of Us Part II Standalone Expansion (2020)
Knack 3 or New IP from JP (2020)
Horizon 2 (2020)
Gran Turismo 7 (2020)
Astro Bot 2 (2020)
Uncharted by San Diego? (2021)
Project Siren New I.P. (2021)
God of War II (2021)
Sucker Punch's Next Game (2022)
Bend's Next Game (2022)
ND's Next Game (2023)
Partners:
Ratchet and Clank 2? (2020)
Until Dawn 2? (2020)
Spider-Man 2 (2021)
Bloodborne 2? (2021)
Quantic Dreams' New I.P. (2022)
Kojima's Next Game (20???)
Announced:
Concrete Genie (2019)
Blood and Truth (2019)
Days Gone (2019)
Dreams (2019)
Ghost (2019)
TLOU Part II (2019/2020)
Death Stranding (2019/2020)
Wild (20??)
More like data from those with access to actual sales data. Specifically, Benji.
So, breaking records left and right or bust? I mean, even if it sales on par with PS4's opening, it would still be really successful. It sold well but selling well and selling gangabangers and breaking world records left and right is far more important. So I'm sticking with 399. If ps5 launches at 499 it won't match PS4 sales.
Bloodborne 2 might not be a thing yet... According to rumor though.
But new Ape Escape is dope.
If it's real...
Most likely. Not sure why people are so readily believing that rumor. The guy probably just had access to that press release where it said Sony wasn't attending E3, and is making all that other stuff up as he goes along.
so to summarize what the Leaker RuthenicCookie said:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/9x2r4f/sony_is_not_going_to_appear_in_e3_next_year/
- No Bloodborne 2 in Sight
- New Ape Escape
- Big Psx Event 2019
- small Ps5 Reveal mid 2019 (plans might change)
- Ryzen 8 Core - Prize 500$
- PsVR2 with no breaker box -> will be inside Ps5 + new Move Controllers
- Anthem going to be delayed again
- Ps5 Release either March or November
- Next Dualshock Controller will have a Camera
obviously take it with a grain of salt - could be one of those leakers that have 1 legit info and spread 5 fake ones. (Verendus disease)
They also claimed Sony was going to delay TLOU2, Death Stranding and "that samurai game" till the PS5 launch and then release them on the same day, which is the dumbest shit imaginable. The person who leaked the news about Sony skipping E3 next year on Reddit claimed that Ape Escape 4 was definitely in development.

I would take their rumours with a giant grain of salt, especially when the one thing they've gotten right would've involved a lot of different moving parts (Sony, the ESA, third party partners, etc). Knowing everything else they're posting, including stuff from EA/Bioware, would require not only great contacts but more than one and that seems extremely unlikely.
When people say 'Bloodborne 2', do they literally mean a game called Bloodborne 2 or with a subtitle, or do they just mean another Soulsborne by From and published by Sony?
Like while Bloodborne wasn't Demon's Souls II, those were the rumours were initially heard, and it was seemingly connected to that world earlier in development.
Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne each feel like successors to different aspects of Demon's Souls. DkS went with the medieval thing, and slowed down the combat, making poise and armour more important. Bloodborne sped the combat up and went with the gothic, eldritch elements of Demon's Souls.
Essentially, when I think of wanting Bloodborne 2, I think more that I just want another game in that direction. More aggressive, more visceral, more of a horror experience.
USD $500 sounds reasonable. Adjusted for inflation, it's not too far off from the PS4 launch price.
I think Jason and others saying it is a sign of a 2020 launch are massively jumping the gun here.
It could very well be that they are planning a massive PS5 event between March and May 2019, for a Nov 2019 launch, and that thus E3 becomes redundant for them, as they'd rather make it all about them and the new platform.
Jumping to conclusion that it makes sense that Sony would bypass all major western trade shows between June 2018 and 2020 seems like a rather odd assumption to me, specially with as much software as they still have to release (between their "secret" AAA, Blurpoint stuff, and any other 3rd party deals they might have, plus the known stuff they haven't shown much at last E3 like Concrete Genie, Dreams, the Supermassive stuff...)
Now I'm not entirely on the Nov 2019 boat anymore (haven't been for a while due to lack of hardware leaks), I had shifted to 60/40, and more recently to 50/50 with fall 2020.
But this makes me actually think less probable for fall 2020, and that after all there might be something behind that Q1 2020 after all, if not fall 2019.

Yeah the price info is kinda shot since they're not usually final before the initial mass production of console. I remember Sony even betting on ram price going down for PS4Some of the stuff the leaker wrote "makes sense", like PSVR2 being built into the system, but him mentioning a wide release window ("between March and November") and also stating that the final price will be 500 bucks despite us being like 1.5-2 years away from launch doesn't really fill me with confidence
Wouldn't also be the first time that someone mixes legit information with made-up shit
If $500 is true then it's most likely due to Pro. They need PS5 to be significantly better than Pro and it's hard to show within $300 budget especially with diminishing returns.
Im just happy that the next gen hype is gearing up already
$400 would be the sweet spot next gen imo even though ill likely pay for a premium higher hdd version if available. I forgot to factor in the tech advancement too, $400 would be good enough for 2020Not $300 but $400. I think the PS5 would be significantly better than the pro in 2020 at a $400 price point.
But at $500 they could add nice features like vapor cooling, more ram, bigger hd etc

Would God of War 2 end up as a PS4 exclusive and launch after the launch of PS5 (God of War2 launched on PS2 in March 2007, PS3 launched in Nov 2006) ? Or would God of War 2 be a straight up cross gen title between PS4 and PS5?
What makes you think GoW 2 is 2020? Did I miss something?Would God of War 2 end up as a PS4 exclusive and launch after the launch of PS5 (God of War2 launched on PS2 in March 2007, PS3 launched in Nov 2006) ? Or would God of War 2 be a straight up cross gen title between PS4 and PS5?

Yep; stuff like pricing is constantly in flux which is pretty normal considering the tech market itself is moving at a rapid pace in a lot of directions
I think he actually knows something about PS5 specs and he is just making his own guess about the price and release window based on those specs. He doesn't really know anything about them.
What if they are able to get the highly anticipated sequel ready by 2020 holiday season?
GoW 2 won't be ready in 2020. GoW came out 6 months ago, in 2018...

Even if the prices of the components fluctuate they have to commit to a price at one point, it being either $399 or $499, and if they're unlucky with the prices they will eat the overcost.
What if they are able to get the highly anticipated sequel ready by 2020 holiday season/Q1 2021?
He didn't really share much about the specs other than it being a "monster" - I mean, yeah? Of course Sony's next hardware will be a "monster". That isn't really anything surprising or even worth pointing out imo
Either way, I guess we will get details once the first devkits are out (which has already happened according to this guy iirc)
True, but I do not think that we have reached that point yet, and I also do not think that this person has sources that are that high up in the chain and part of internal pricing discussions
$399 is the sweetest of spots for a next-gen machine. I'll be surprised if it's $499.
