I'm not sure why you keep ignoring everyone. And yes, EVERYONE knows it's about business. That's not an excuse or a valid reason to support it as a consumer.

We going to ignore all the PS4s and Xbox one already in use? For those PS4 is still the best place to play.
I just spent $600 dollars on a second PlayStation. I eagerly await PS5. The cross play thing is questionable but I will never move away from Sony as a platform. They have the games I like to play.
I'm not talking about sales per say, I'm taking about how they react when their competition is actually ready for the fight this time around

Same but i am waiting till ps5 slim or pro, all launch playstations broke on me within 5 years wich sucks all slims i have last way longer.

Altho i just got a pspro + psvr and my backlog is huge anyway so it will take me a few years anyway whenever ps5 launches to go through that.

I don't see how it's going to be a big issue. If the PS5 is fully BC with the PS4 it won't matter in the slightest. It'll matter about as much as free to play games not actually being free to play on Xbox Live. Just a dumb talking point brought up in pros and cons lists
Why would it be ? Outside of ResetEra and Reddit I never came across anybody complaining there's no cross play. This forum echo chamber make it seems like a way bigger issue that it actually is. Would I like if all player could play together of course. But there's a reason Sony is not going for it and it's not to cackle maniacly like some kind of super vilain, it's for money, there's no other reason. They ran the cost vs benefit and it just wasn't worth it.
Now if it was something I care about I'd give my support to a more open platform.
Holy shit that is some bad luck, my condolences. My PS2 stopped reading DVDs after a few years but all my other Sony hardware lived very full lives to this day. I also hit the jackpot on the Pro as well, apparently.

Things change, what use to be taboo 10 years ago no longer is. That's just the way life is. We are heading towards a cross play future and Sony will have to be dragged towards it but they will eventually give in.
Don't feel bad for me. Don't need your pity. I play 95 percent single players games so this doesn't even really affect me. Cross-play or not won't change my experience.
I hope people read this and understand why they won't change their stance.
If PS5 doesn't offer crossplay and they don't give in I can predict millions of lost sales. Am I exaggerating? I feel like this is an actual big deal to even casual gamers who will all be buying a next gen console. We'll see, I guess. I'm honestly thinking about all the kids who know they can't play with their friends if they buy a PS5.
I don't get it. If you are the lead, why wouldn't you do things the consumers support to try and widen the gap? Cross-play, BC, etc.

Well they're leading the console market and this is their overconfidence at play.
I think it opens up the possibility of Sony taking missteps with the PS5 eventually and allowing Microsoft to capitalize on the situation.

Exactly happens all the time. Companies get too dominant and then mess up over and over. You'd think they'd learn. But money makes people greedy.
