Not sure which ban you're referring to as none of your infractions are related to Biden or not voting, but just wanted to clarify that saying you'll stay at home and not vote is not against the rules.Anyone mind sharing the Discord link? I need some place to vent if this goes sideways. I've been banned before for speaking my mind about Joe "nothing will fundamentally change" Biden and how I can understand the sentiment of not voting at all, but apparently that's a hot take you can't make because Trump is the ultimate evil and we have to throw all of our support behind the moderate evil.

Yeah, it wouldn't exactly be fair to punish a minority for not wanting to vote for a racist, for example. No worries. Just wanted to clarify. c:Oh, that's a surprise. It was soon after I made a comment about when it comes down to Biden/Bloomberg and Trump, I can understand and even admire skipping out on an election as a working class person. Or it coincided with something else I said then, but aside from "inflammable rhetoric" as the reason it didn't say much.
But anyway, nice to hear that wasn't the reason then. I found it odd if that were the reason.
In the event of a Bernie loss, perhaps demsocs ought to primarily focus on local power building + Congress + direct action/labor disputes. And pray for the best with climate. (And prepare for the worst with climate as well - that's when the local power building will come in handy)
Pretty much over electoralism. By the time we can build a socialist coalition in Congress the planet will be on fire.
Gonna look into my field of work in Canada.
canadian here, help us build a true leftist movement because i can't stand this neoliberal politician and capitalist colonizer hell
I'm becoming more and more serious the more I think about it. I really don't feel like I have a future in this country. I work in TV/film and Canada has a decently sized industry. If California could become its own country that'd rule given that Bernie is crushing the Californian vote, but alas.
Someone I know has contacts in the Canadian industry. Maybe I'm just a butthurt Bernie Bro but to see voters show up en masse for creepy, half-asleep Uncle Joe when his campaign was dead in the water a week ago is extremely disheartening.
I was really angry at the UK election when Corbyn got smashed. I'm just sad and resigned to the state of this country. Honestly, one of my biggest fears is a Biden win will kill the left here.
Problem is accelerationism doesn't actually work in the US. I know you're half-joking but yeah.i'm gonna quote myself from 2018 because this week reminded me why talking to americans take me from a friendly demsoc to a accelerationist marxist leninist

I'm gonna be more involved in my local DSA chapter. I want to organize. Protest. Get arrested. Fuck it. Make this country afraid of the angry youth. Tired of just sitting around dreading the inevitable economic crash and climate catastrophe.
Whether it's Canada or America, I'll die before I stop fighting for leftism. I won't go quietly into the night.
To be frank, when the next one hits would be a great time for ya'll to strike and have your revolution.
Just saying.

If capital, empire, colonialism, and bigotry could be voted away, they wouldn't let us vote.

One of us is right. I'm more of a warren fix it than burn it down type.Let me be honest with you, TheHunter. I don't necessarily agree with all your posts. In fact, I'm often puzzled by some of your logic given that you identify as a socialist/leftist (or an ally thereof at the very least).
With that out of the way, I could not agree more with what you just said. ✊

Either the reformers or the revolutionism side. This shit can't go on as is.

Oh I'm hedging my bets is all.My man, the second you suggested going on strike and having a revolution, you threw away your reformist shackles haha. Before long, you'll think Bernie isn't radical enough.
If capital, empire, colonialism, and bigotry could be voted away, they wouldn't let us vote.
This timeline is depressing. If Bloomberg is out and he's endorsing Biden I think that's game for Bernie, unless Biden falls asleep on stage or something.
He's out and done exactly that.If Bloomberg is out and he's endorsing Biden I think that's game for Bernie, unless Biden falls asleep on stage or something.

Aye. Mere electoralism has been and continues to be mistaken for real, fundamental change. People take for granted what civil disobedience, disruptive protest, arson, burglary, uprisings, strikes, fights with the cops and mercs, blockades, and even outright civil war has done for us all. He's out and done exactly that.
I'm just as cynical about it. Liberal democracy is a sham, just theatrics. If revolutionary changes were genuinely possible through just liberal democracy, they'd never have taken the risk of allowing us to vote. They've got a system in place now that's so airtight that whenever a politician dares to fly too close to the sun, they get their wings burned through a variety of ways. Real change is only possible from the grounds up, from mass civil movements and all-out revolutions. As an analogy I always refer to the slavery and segregation of black Americans, and the subsequent rise of the civil rights movements. You really think they'd hand them over their freedom just like that if America happened to vote about it through the ballots? Nah ah.
Soon after the casino opened, Costello was already noting huge improvements for her subjects. Behavioural problems among children who had been lifted out of poverty went down 40%, putting them in the same range as their peers who had never known hardship. Juvenile crime rates among the Cherokee also declined, along with drug and alcohol use, while their school scores improved markedly. At school, the Cherokee kids were now on a par with the study's non-tribal participants.
On seeing the data, Costello's first reaction was disbelief. "The expectation is that social interventions have relatively small effects," she later said. "This one had quite large effects."
Costello calculated that the extra $4,000 per annum resulted in an additional year of educational attainment by age 21 and reduced the chance of a criminal record at age 16 by 22%.
