They do this at the beginning with all new silhouettes. Same happened with Air max 270s and Vapormaxes.. give it 6-12 months and they'll run it into the ground with overload of colourways and it'll be GR'd.
By that point it won't matter because we'll be onto the next new thing.

Supposedly its the existing tom sachs just wrapped in that layer. The layer is stitched on so cant just remove it and get a nice shoe
