So for money and "other favours" she ruins her life?
Wonder how long she will get for this in reality?

EDIT

You want it to be one way but it's the other way.

Great....now I have to go watch The Wire again....Ive got shit to do Rvaan, dont remind me about The Wire at such an inopportune time!
allison-mack.jpg

Sweet baby jesus.....she used to glow nigh perpetually.
Sex, Drugs and Starving yourself are not the answer clearly.

Her eyes are so sunken in now its almost like she hasnt slept in months.

On Topic
Its says she faces up to a maximum of 20 years for each charge.
So does that mean she could get 40 years tops....or is the 20 actually for both charges....my comprehension when it comes to these legal proceedings is alittle rubbish.

I remember hearing about the cult Kreuk and Mack were a part of back in the late 2000s but kind of brushed it off. Kind of wish I would've looked more into it back then, I think I saw being called a "feminism cult" or some nonsense and mostly brushed it off.

Wasn't one of the other main characters from Smallville also linked to this? Lana? Am I misremembering, or did anything come from that?
Kreuk joined first but got out apparently before shit started to turn. Other women/victims in this have said that Kreuk wasn't involved by then.
Some of you need to stop talking about your crushes as if that what this is was about. Throw her ass under the prison.

-----

From my memory it was the other way around and Kristen bounced.
Nah, Kreuk was in first but apparently Mack went all in as Kreuk left and things got darker.

How does someone get -into- this shit?

Same way people get sucked in Scientology if you want a more "mainstream" example or you could look at any number of religions and especially certain splinter groups that disguise themselves as being on the surface some form of "self help" or spiritual guidance. The more vulnerable someone is the easier they become to manipulate and brain wash.

EDIT:
The 60s and 70s had a lot of this shit, much of which came out of the hippie movement, most known and nefarious being the Manson Family. There were also LSD and other drug cults like The League for Spiritual Discovery (LSD, get it?!) and The Brotherhood of Eternal Love. Speaking of which Timothy Leary who was basically the "spiritual leader" of those groups was Winona Ryder's godfather.

I never heard about this case until last summer I went to New York on holiday, and cycled to Brooklyn. When we exited brooklyn bridge we ended up at the courthouse, where we had to slam our brakes because a horde of cameramen and journalist where following someone to a car.

It was Allison Macky on one of her court dates. We actually stuck around listening to one of the journalists stand-up in front of the court to figure out what was going on :P You could actually see my wife and me biking on some of the news footage that evening.

Horrible woman

I could do without some of the weird comments in this thread.

I get that she had a particular kind of role that she was often typecast as, but I honestly feel like that borders on diminishing the ridiculously horrific crimes that she now admits to committing alongside Keith Raniere.

I don't think people are consciously trying to diminish what has occurred, but this just comes off as massively creepy.

Young women were separated from their families, made into slaves and physically branded because of this person. I don't need to hear about how you had a crush on her back in the day.

We wouldn't expect to hear this kind of thing in reference to some guy who was a tv heartthrob back in the day imprisoning and assaulting people.

Thank you

It's how the group portrayed itself to the outside world in order to try to rope in more women. Here's Allison trying to get Emma Watson to join

Yeeesh...

I would have said that it was bordering on pedophilia but Watson was 25/26 at the time of that tweet. Can't see her as anything else than a kid...

Yeah, I know, I just didn't look into it and see there was this guy or any guy at the head of it, I viewed it as some stupid Tony Robbins or AmWay bullshit as it was on the surface. Apparently that's what a lot of people thought they were getting. I remember seeing that Tweet when this broke last year, it's still fucking creepy.

EDIT: Oh and there's a follow up Tweet and a reply.

Man, I remember how I found out about this.

Sometime ago I thought to myself "I wonder what happened to Chloe from SV".

Was speechless when I saw the wiki.

Were these supposed to be DMs.
Why would you be recruiting out in the open like that when atleast some people already know this is some cult shit.

She may have thought being that up front was a recruiting method which was less cult-like so when she's in for a while than the cult shit can be applied. Whatever creepy shit they're doing works as they've roped in a few celebrity actresses (and a billionaire heiress) and their cult isn't as well known as Scientology.

"As a fellow actress..." sounds look a hook to lure recruits in.

Thankfully Emma stayed away.

From the articles I've read the cult is like Scientology, there's layers to this shit. The deeper you go the worse it gets.

Damn.

Ill always be super fascinated by cults.
How they start, how they grow, how they stay going for however long they last.

Such a trippy thing.

These guys got a billionaires daughter in on it.....they must have fleeced her for millions.

The defense argued Raniere was a genuine believer in unconventional means for self-improvement and that all his sexual encounters with female followers of his organization, called NXIVM, were consensual.

I know it's their job as defense counsel, but holy fuck at that justification

I knew someone who named their daughter Chloe after her because they loved Smallville. This must be real awkward for them now.

The sentencing of NXIVM leader Keith Raniere is now firmly scheduled for June 23 — one way or another.

And one way may be a virtual court appearance due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Former NXIVM president Nancy Salzman, her daughter Lauren Salzman, Seagram's heiress Clare Bronfman, actress Allison Mack and NXIVM bookkeeper Kathy Russell, all still await sentencing. Each pleaded guilty before the trial. Lauren Salzman was a key witness for prosecutors.

Smallville actor Allison Mack has been sentenced to three years in prison for manipulating women into becoming sex slaves for the leader of the cult-like NXIVM group.

Mack had pleaded guilty to the charges that accused her of helping create a society of brainwashed women branded with leader Keith Raniere's initials.

"I made choices I will forever regret," she told a New York court, crying as she said she was filled with "remorse and guilt" over her actions.

In a letter to the court last week, she wrote: "I am sorry to those of you that I brought into NXIVM.

"I am sorry I ever exposed you to the nefarious and emotionally abusive schemes of a twisted man."

Mack would normally face between 14 and 17 years in jail but prosecutors agreed she should get less because of her cooperation.

The 38-year-old was in Raniere's inner circle and the group attracted millionaires and actors.

Prosecutors said Mack was a "master" for "slaves" who she told "to perform labour, take nude photographs, and in some cases, to engage in sex acts with Raniere".

The 60-year-old fled to Mexico with Mack and others, but they were both arrested in March 2018 and sent back to the US.

He was sentenced to 120 years in jail last year on sex trafficking charges.

Clare Bronfman, the half-British daughter of a Canadian billionaire, was also sentenced to nearly seven years in September for her role with the group.

You should probably just make a new thread for that. That more than satisfies the new news new thread threshold.
There's a thread

Former NXIVM Second-in-Command Allison Mack Sentenced to Three Years in Prison

Allison Mack Sentenced to Three Years In Prison for Role in NXIVM Cult - Rolling Stone She had the potential to receive up to 14-17 1/2 years. Apparently got that quite reduced due to her helping investigators further expose NXIVM. She got off pretty damn easy for what she was charged with...
