Talking about exclusives, for me was 2018 and 2020. God of War and The Last of Us Part II are my favorite games.

Persona 5 Royal, TLOU Part II, FFVII remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Dreams, Miles Morales... 2020 it's for me
Although 2017 was strong too, with Horizon, Persona and Nier

I have to go 2018. While 2020 was great, and 2017 & 2019 being great as well, 2018 really blew me away.

2017! Horizon Zero Dawn and Persona 5 beat everything else. (Plus Uncharted Lost Legacy and GT Sport which are pretty good as well)

It's tough.

2017 had Yakuza 0 which is a game I was dying to play ever since Yakuza stopped coming over here and Gravity Rush 2 which is a game I love a lot. Then you have Nier and RE7 and the later was one of the best games in the series and brought it back to the roots.

This year and the past one were also awesome.

I am gonna go with 2017 as that year was like the year of dreams for me.

2020 no doubt.
GoT, Miles Morales, Nioh 2, FFVIIR, Dreams, TLoU Part 2. And this are the ones I played, there are many more that I didn't.

2017: Yooka, Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces. (I am not interested in most Sony exclusives. Only going by exclusives, it is 2018; Astrobot and GoW.

Either 2018 or 2020 for me personally.

God of War, Shadow of the Colossus & Spider-Man vs. The Last of Us Part II, Spider-Man: Miles Morales & Ghost of Tsushima.

Not even counting the third party exclusives like FFVII, Persona or Nioh.

2020 probably gets it.

Of course 2015 had Bloodborne, 2016 had Uncharted 4, 2017 had Horizon and 2019 had Days Gone (still underrated!) - PS has been stellar all generation basically as soon as the exclusives started rolling in. We were incredibly lucky to have these titles and sometimes multiple within the same year.

2017 had Yakuza 0 and Horizon. They were exclusives at the time so I'll assume that counts

I immediately clicked for 2017 with Persona, Horizon and NieR, but 2020 makes a good argument especially considering it has the better version of persona lol.

Chose 2020, but the answer is whatever the current year is. Each year brings more available titles to play with the benefit of each previous year's releases also still existing. Eventually, when the PS4 servers go down and the games stop being readily available it'll start to go downhill, but given how popular the PS4 was, we're a long way from that.

2015 Bloodborne is easily the best and most original exclusive of ps4, basically bought one just for that, did not disappoint.

2015, Bloodborne. Best non-sequel for me since Valkyria Chronicles. A damn masterpiece and the combat is underrated even with the praise it gets.

2018 for me, until i can finish GoT and have a better picture of 2020. God of War and TLOU2 would be a tie for me. Astrobot's rescue mission will be very difficult to top , even combining GoT and Astro's playroom

2017 for Nier, Persona 5, and HZD. That was one hell of a year.

Edit: Gravity Rush 2 came out that year. RE7 came out that year. Wolfenstein II came out this year.

We got Demon's Souls which is on par with Bloodborne imo

As someone who's finished Demon's Souls over six times, nah. Bloodborne is a definitively better game, and that's okay. DeS is much older than BB and From hadn't figured the format out fully yet. That's not to say DeS is a bad game - it's not - but Bloodborne is the ultimate crystallization of the Soulsborne format, whereas DeS is the larval form of that concept.

2017 is the best year overall, but the best games came out in 2015 (Bloodborne) and 2020 (TLOU2).

As a huge fan of Demon's Souls, who believes that it goes toe to toe with most Souls games, I still totally agree.

The one-two punch of God of War then Spider-Man in 2018. I struggled to choose between 2018 and 2020 because TLOU2 really landed for me and was the most technically excellent game I have played on the PS4.

I'll have to give it to 2018 because GotG released in that year.

2020 is such an amazing year, it's crazy that you can have it as your 2nd or 3rd place.

Just shows how many great years for gaming we had recently.

I don't think anything is going to beat playing Persona 5, Yakuza 0, NieR Automata and Nioh back to back for me. 2017 by a huge margin.

God of War was my favorite game this gen and 2018 also had Spider-Man. However, it's hard to argue against 2020.

Personally? 2018, 2 of my favorite games of all time released, GOW and RDR2.

Objectively? Probably 2020, Sony handled the pandemic issues quite wonderfully tbh with consistent output and a great launch lineup

It's either 2017 or 2020:

2017: Persona 5, Nier Automata, Tales of Berseria, Nioh

2020: FF7R, Persona 5 Royal, Trails of Cold Steel 4, 13 Sentinels, Ghost of Tsushima

I think I choose 2020.

I will never get the love for 2017. One of the worst years, IMO. 2018 is where it's at for God of War alone!

Spider-Man and RDR2 were great too! 2020's been a good year as well (2019 was amazing for RE2 and DMC5).

If God of War:Ragnarok really comes out in 2021... Might be one of the best years. It's been a great couple of years all around though.
