With FFVIII Remastered, Collection of Mana, & Grandia HD Collection, Sony should follow suit and remaster or just port some of their PS1 JRPGs too.
Specifically The Legend of Dragoon, Wild Arms, Legend of Legaia, & Arc the Lad.
I am on mobile and have a hard time running Google translate on it :(

Maybe they know that they will have a limited role in the company after an acquisition takes place, so they basically want to cash out while they still can.
yes this is the right idea
I feel if Sony acquires Blue Point and makes a dedicated team in Japan Studio they can tackle the above
not big budget but something like the SoTC remake quality
HS ASKED Tero Virtala, CEO of Remedy. Did you sell a relatively large amount of Remedy shares with Mäki after you had published a lot of stuff? "We hadn't sold any shares in two years. The idea was that now the sales window is open after the half-yearly review. "
"Everyone has seen a good reception for the new game, but now we don't have a complete idea of what pre-orders are. We have certain views on selected markets and we wanted to say it openly. "
Wouldn't it have been a good opportunity to sell right after the half-yearly review when you were telling us about the company?
"Our trading volume is not big. There was a perception that this week there was a willingness to buy the quantities that are being sold, so it was now put up for sale
. And you didn't sell the shares until after?
"We have a PR campaign all the time. It started as early as mid-June, after which we have visited our international media office. "
Should you have waited now for stock sales until the game was released?
"The game will be released on Tuesday, and once the majority of sales are on digital channels, then we will have a clear view of what sales are and what can be anticipated. We felt that it was no longer a good time to sell. "
Are investors now drawing conclusions from your sales?
"That's what I can't say. I still hold 95% of my Remedy ownership, Markus is probably 96%. "
Remedy's share fell nearly seven percent on Friday afternoon.
I say this as someone who has no idea about businesses, but wouldn't the stocks be more expensive if Sony offered a buy out? Like, they'd be losing potential money with this move if Sony made an offer.Thread worthy?

EDIT: Hell, if anything they are anticipating the game bombing, and thus tanking the value of the shares, so they're actually getting ahead of it. They say they don't know how pre-orders are going, but they probably have some kind of picture of how it's gonna go.
Then, Virtala admits that he already knows how the game has been received in advance estimates and pre-sold in selected markets.
"Now let's just say we have a positive, enthusiastic atmosphere."
Much more cannot be disclosed by the CEO of a listed company.
Oh thank you.Doesn't really read like they are concerned about advance estimates/pre order numbers,
Exactly. That thread is going to be filled with hot takes considering the current title and zero information given by the OP.I'm not sure if I'd call selling 170,000 shares out of 12,072,150 "a lot". Stock price was way higher than usual, might as well make some money by selling some. All in all those 170,000 shares is just a little over 1.4% of all outstanding shares.
Our third unannounced game project as well as the Vanguard project have
progressed further with small early phase teams. The focus has been on game
design, starting the development of the well understood parts of the games,
prototyping the new and still uncertain areas, and building the teams further
with both internal moves and recruitment. Early negotiations with potential
business partners have also started, and as we are in a financially strong
position and want to retain stronger business control of our games, we are not
in a hurry to sign business partnerships for our new games.
I see. So what you are saying that they are going to be acquired by Sony. Some meat for y'all to chew on, it might also explain why Shu visited them when he was in town...
Sony loves to own the IP it funds, but it seems Remedy is adamant about holding onto their IP, I don't blame them after AW and QB.

...
Sorry. I couldn't resist writing this :D

How many big Sony games have bombed this gen?Just a thought: Remedy's games always seem fly under the radar, even when they were partnered up with MS.
Wouldn't be the case if they were part of WWS and had that Sony marketing behind them.
I can only think of The Order. Ratchet and Clank the game did pretty well, I think, but the movie tie-in was a disaster.
At least The Order 1886 was profitable.I can only think of The Order. Ratchet and Clank the game did pretty well, I think, but the movie tie-in was a disaster.
What? It sold really well. It reviewed poorly though.
If you count it as big, Gravity Rush 2 sadly.
Hm gotta stop using era as my source than
Oh.
Sure, but... they wanted to also create new IPs if given the opportunity.after Remedy
Sony please take BluePoint... I am a simple man that is all I ask
BluePoint is the anchor for your old IPs
Don't need to be sad if they acquire Ready At Dawn too! Right Sanji?! 😏😉That Sony acquired remedy thread gonna make me so mad I see it now lol
For their next game (which turned out to be Control), no? 🤔This makes the most sense. Especially given the Quantum Break development issues. I'd imagine you'd actually want to work with the studio in a more intimate way than just financing marketing before you made an acquisition decision. At the same time though following the split from Microsoft, Remedy did say they wanted to be multi platform.
Sumo Digital? Yikes. No thanks.
Why do people think IO would be a good buy, the Hitman games aren't selling like bonkers.imo, after buying Isomniac, the best option for SIE is Remedy or IO Interactive
Acquiring Sumo Digital would be as good as another Killzone/FPS. So not good at all.Pipe down Bundy , Sumo are great when they focus on what they are good at....racers.

it does not matter if they do not sell 10 million games. They have incredible knowledge of Level Design and are Danish, Sony is looking for a European studio (we all know they like Remedy and Housemarque), so why not ? for me Sony and IO are 100% compatibleWhy do people think IO would be a good buy, the Hitman games aren't selling like bonkers.
I'm not sure if Sony is interested to buy Remedy. Pretty sure their next game will be ps5 exclusive. Maybe Sony is interested to make a franchise out of Control, that's maybe why Shu visited them.
And maybe Sony is looking to buy Illfonic. Maybe they will wait and see how Predator will be doing. If it's a great success, i can imagine an acquisition.
Sony is more likely to buy a studio like Camouflaj than Illfonic. And maybe Sony is looking to buy Illfonic. Maybe they will wait and see how Predator will be doing. If it's a great success, i can imagine an acquisition.
I hope more Sony studios add multiplayer to their games next gen. Give me coop Horizon, GoW, Spider-Man, Ratchet, Ape Escape, everything.
You don't belong round these parts may I direct you to the Microsoft fp thread perhapsI hope more Sony studios add multiplayer to their games next gen. Give me coop Horizon, GoW, Spider-Man, Ratchet, Ape Escape, everything.
