who were all those that said that sony doesnt see PC gaming as a competitor?Competition from online PC games and players from other industries is expected to continue to intensify.
.Improvements in communication and network environments and mobile devices make delivering seamless experiences anywhere and anytime more of a reality than ever before. PlayStation® already delivers services that allow users stress-free access to game titles so that they can continue their play anytime and anywhere, and we will continue to evolve playersʼ experiences on PlayStation® through advances in computing, streaming, the cloud, 5G and other technologies
more like 5G remote play or possibly PSNow on mobile like XCloud
Capcom teasing UC2 is probably the most infuriating shit ever.
But that part about how competition from PC is intensifying seems kinda contradictive with Shawn Layden's recent comments about some internally developed games, mainly MP games, possibly coming to PC. If PC is a competing platform to PlayStation consoles and that competition is intensifying, wouldn't it make all the more sense to keep the current situation regarding exclusives as it is?
After reading gofreak 's post, is 94M+ PSN MAU a new stat?
"To reinforce content IP, SIE will accelerate the enhancement and rollout of its portfolio of exclusive PlayStation® titles. "
^ Could this mean that they want to enhance the rendering modes and visuals of their older exclusives?
Thanks gofreak

So for Sony, Insomniac is a small or medium scale acquisitionMeanwhile, a series of strategic investments centered on M&A will focus on relatively small- and medium-scale investments in external technologies and content IP that we wish to integrate. We conduct these small- and medium-scale acquisitions more frequently than large-scale M&A because we believe they are easier to control in terms of operations and cash management, and such acquisitions allow us to respond more flexibly to growth opportunities in businesses with different growth and investment cycles.
That tidbit about how the Cell experience led to Sony's leading position in the semiconductor segment is a very cool one, nice find indeed =)
Thanks for posting gofreak !
Very interesting document, especially about the Cell and then their Semiconductors business
So for Sony, Insomniac is a small or medium scale acquisition
And they won't buy a publisher like Capcom
There is hope for RAD
Friendship ended with Sony?
Mentions him by name and says it means a lot. I smell a new Xbox exclusive!!
Read a bit about it and the genus to which it belongs... it's fascinating. It seems to be a different type of fungi that work more or less the same way as the cordyceps. The main difference is that it can grow anywhere, even in nutrient-depleted environments. If I had to guess, it could be a hint for another type of fungi-themed enemies based on the Aspergillus' properties. So, I wouldn't be surprised to see more than just the usual clickers, stalkers and bloaters. Either that or it could be the source to a possible cure for the Cordyceps fungi problem they are having in TLOU. :P

I don't really know if it's worth its own thread, so I'll stick this here. Sony has released its 'Corporate Report 2019'. It seems to be the first of its kind, part of a new effort for transparency with shareholders I guess. Much of it is just echos of things said elsewhere, but there are some interesting bits wrt the game business. It's 60-odd pages, so I've tried to pull out the bits relevant to Playstation.
From the CEO's introduction:
It then has several pages on the game business - a narration of the history of the business, and in particular a focus on the transformation of the business with the PS4, and the challenges and impact of the PS3 cycle on that transformation.
Here's a take on the wider impact of the PS3 that I haven't seen offered before - and it has nothing to do with Blu-ray:

SIE strategy
For sure !
Game & Network Services: Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is globally headquartered in Silicon Valley, where it competes in a high-velocity talent market to attract, retain and develop the best and brightest. SIE provides employees with market-benchmarked compensation, best-in-class benefits, and PlayStation® branded engagement activities, which has fueled the companyʼs growth to USD$20 billion. SIE is also proud of its focus on diversity and inclusion, CSR and career development, which contribute to making SIE the best place to play and work- as seen through a 9% turnover rate, which is half the Silicon Valley average.
Interesting enough, I really thought that Sony wanted to buy a huge company/publisher like T2 or Capcom to easily guarantee their dominance in the next generation. It would be the most expensive alternative but by far the easiest. They probably chose the most conscious way.
Quick question, but will Sony be at tgs this year in any capacity?

In Poland it's like this:Just out of curiosity, for the past seven months or so the top games list on the Playstation web store hasn't changed. Is it broken in all countries or just for the US store? Here's the list it's been stuck at.
Top Games
1. Sekiro™: Shadows Die Twice
2. Tom Clancy's The Division 2 Standard Edition
3. Grand Theft Auto V
4. NBA 2K19
5. Far Cry New Dawn
Sony always considered PC to be a competing platform. The whole point of the Pro was to give a 4k alternative to PC in a console form.
However, Sony isn't the strongest when it comes to the MP side so they gonna need every help they can get to make their games a success and the first thing is a large user base so it make sense to release it on PC.
Their big games i.e their SP games is what drives their current sales and what will continue to drive their sales next gen as they remain exclusive.
The map I recently played was set in an ancient forest, but I'm told to expect a variety of maps and modes in the final release. Various installations are manned by hostile AI warriors. In the demo mode I played (which is available at PAX West this week), the soldiers are tasked with various missions which generally involve infiltrating buildings and killing swarms of AI enemies. They must survive the Predator, or kill it. The Predator's only concern is hunting the human players, though it is also viewed by the AI as an enemy.
Playing the game, I felt the thrill of the hunt. I enjoyed working with teammates to avoid being slain by the Predator. We even managed to kill it on one occasion. When it was my turn to be the Predator, I enjoyed the thrill of pursuit. I felt like a cat, watching mice, gleefully waiting to pounce.
It's worth noting that asymmetrical co-op monster-vs-squad games can sometimes struggle when they're released into the wild. Turtle Rock's doomed Evolve comes to mind, although Predator seems to have a heavier focus on environmental gameplay, and less complexity in terms of the monster's abilities, which may work in its favor.
So +4 million between March and August
Yeah broken too in France, chart is the same for months nowJust out of curiosity, for the past seven months or so the top games list on the Playstation web store hasn't changed. Is it broken in all countries or just for the US store? Here's the list it's been stuck at.

Based on the few rounds I played the 4v1 action feels balanced and, more importantly. perfectly captured the feeling of the film – that moment when the panic sets in and everyone starts firing blindly into the trees. It's also a good sign that on the soldier side of the gameplay there's a perfectly functional shooter here in it's own right. It plays well alone, without a Predator to hand, with a really satisfying feedback from the weapons as you pepper enemies with gunfire in pursuit of objective markers. It's easy to forget about the alien death from above part as you clear out an enemy base or deal with a jungle ambush. Then there's screaming, bits of people in your hair and you remember what you're actually playing.
How the human / alien stuff actually unfolds largely depends on the person playing as the Predator: they can launch themselves in all guns blazing, or play a slower, more tension building approach as they stalk from the branches above. When you're invisible you'll make the movie's distinctive guttural rattling noise, which is great to unnerve the players below – although a giant explosive plasma bolt hurtling down from the canopy and literally vaporising someone into a fine red mist is also a pretty effective way to spook people. There's a risk / reward element to using the plasma cannon though, as the distinctive red dot aiming completely reveals your position, and there's a charging time while your exposed if you want to unleash a full power shot.
Playing as the Predator is a fine balance of restraint and excessive power. When invisible, for example it's hard to see a moving Predator, and impossible to be seen while stationary – during one of my matches, when I'd taken a lot of damage and been chased down by the soldier team, I was able to evade them just by turning a corner and freezing. It led to an unbearably tense few seconds as three of them circled around me, almost elbow to elbow and then walking on without realising. I don't think I've ever struggled as hard to hold my nerves and not panic.
Yeah it seems likePredator is sounding real good

Sry for 3rd party off topic but man...I am hyped for Yakuza 7 !!
