Enjoy it!

Lol, I am 100% they will be fine.
I don't think Spiderman's combat is shallowI have VERY REAL issues with the combat in GOW. With Spiderman, it's Batman Combat, so while it's often shallow, it's still good.
that is stupidly oversimplifying how amazing the story is, the gameplay and the traversal
This is a good point. The story is solid and characters nice but nothing mind blowingIt's a good game, but not mind-blowing. But if you are at all familiar with the comics or even watched the animated series as a kid, nothing in the story will surprise you at all. Don't worry too much about spoilers.
Congrats. Enjoy. I really enjoy.

It doesn't have to be mind-blowing. It's easily one of the best licensed games I've ever played and there's a lot of depth to the game mechanics if you look for it. I was actually impressed that on normal (Amazing?) the regular grunts get more vicious as you progress through the game and they don't do that thing where they take turns to attack you.
Literally my only complaint is that the physics fall apart a little at the end when you're bouncing around and rapidly transitioning from swinging to wall running to crawling to jumping. The checkpointing is generous so it's not so bad.
I'm just glad they didn't tell the origin story AGAIN. Looking forward to the DLC and hopefully a sequel soonish.
I would say that the amount of polish and details in Spidey's traversal is pretty goddamn mind-blowing.
A lot of people don't really understand just how much work it takes to pull off something like that at the level of polish you see in an open-world game like Spider-Man.
So I tend to wait a while before playing the big hot releases since they're bound to go on sale before long and I have a massive backlog. Recently, I've been playing a bunch of Monster Hunter World, which I know is a huge time investment so I wasn't even thinking of getting Spider-Man for a while.
But, it seems the game is so good, and specifically, it's story and ending are supposedly so moving that I'm afraid that if I don't play through it soon I'm going to get spoiled. Like, I think I already saw a spoiler in a Youtube suggested video thumbnail, and I feel like I'm barely dodging spoilers right now. I expect it will only get worse as the weeks go by.
Have you also had a game(s) that you felt compelled to play early simply because dodging spoilers long term seemed to be impossible?
Not that long? How long we talking, I was just about to walk into town and buy it, but seeing this post is a massive red flag.

Main story 10-12 hours.
Tedious monotonous side quests will push it to 20-30.
I could have gotten the plat in 20 hours if I desired to clean up the last bits of the game.
Nah, it's closer to double that. The simple fact that you need to do 150 odd of the random crimes takes a significant amount of time. I never wasn't doing something when playing and my plat was nearer 40 hours, it's not hard, but filled with bloat.I could have gotten the plat in 20 hours if I desired to clean up the last bits of the game.

Yeah, I think you might be correct. I do think it is a very good first effort though and I hope they stretch themselves even further with the next one should they decide to make it.Spider-Man is one of those games that, once the dust has settled, will not be generally as highly regarded as it was at launch. It's a good game, but hugely overhyped because it got open world swinging right, was well presented and had a reasonably interesting story, while just about every other element was really just passable.
Yeah it definitely is easy. But don't underestimate just how long those random crimes take. Each one is gonna take a couple of minutes (some like the car one are quicker but some of the later ones have several waves so averages out), probably 5 minutes with waiting for them to proc and there's literally 150 of them. That's like 12 hours alone ha.I mean, I'm at around 21 hours and the only thing I have left to do is the assorted crime. The only reason I haven't is because it's kind of boring to wait for it to randomly proc.
It's one of the easier plats to get.
Oh definitely a great first effort. I'm really interested in what they do next with it.Yeah, I think you might be correct. I do think it is a very good first effort though and I hope they stretch themselves even further with the next one should they decide to make it.
The right decission. It's the second best game of the year (after GoW) for me and I don't see that changing. MAYBE when I finally play Yakuza 6 or Pillars of Eternity II. But yeah, the game is amazing.

These posts and the "it won't be remembered in 10 years" are always ridiculous.Spider-Man is one of those games that, once the dust has settled, will not be generally as highly regarded as it was at launch. Oh shit, had no idea an Insomniac dev posted here. Thanks for Spider-Man PS4 dude, awesome game, and can't wait for you guys to make more.
Because it's simply not true, people don't like something in mass just to do a 180 on it after some time.
Who said anything about a 180? I'm not talking about people suddenly hating the game.Because it's simply not true, people don't like something in mass just to do a 180 on it after some time.
Don't come in here talking sense, you madman.Who said anything about a 180? I'm not talking about people suddenly hating the game.
The general consensus on a forum for a game going from "OMG this is definitely the game of year" to "A good game but we can now talk more about it's flaws" is not an uncommon thing at all. Look at games like Fallout 4 and Bioshock Infinite. Spider-Man is a prime example of a game that's going to get that treatment in my view, perhaps not quite as extreme as those two but still one where I expect a change in perspective over time. You can already see if from more muted reactions on podcasts where they're a little more distanced from the type of forum hype we see here, particularly for console exclusives.
Again, it doesn't mean it's not a great game, but we are talking about this in a thread where someone is asking if they should "drop everything" to play it.
Yeah but that can wait a few months. There's nothing to spoil on that which is what the OPs getting at. Game will still be fun to play next year and if he hast the story spoiledI would say that the amount of polish and details in Spidey's traversal is pretty goddamn mind-blowing.
