Agreed!
This "Typical Mega Drive User" shirt is awesome.
I knows it probably impossible because of rights issues, but goddamn I wish the Jurassic Park games were part of either mini's collection. Those were my bread and butter growing up.
Midnight Resistance is available in one of the Evercade cartridges.Midnight Resistance hasn't gotten a release on anything in ages.
As cash grabs go, this is probably a good decision. Limit the production, make it available only through one medium and you'll get people to pay 100 bucks plus shipping and stumbling over themselves to preorder it, as opposed to the first one which just languished. It's like the Nintendo mini playbook but even more limited. And I bet most people that buy this will take it out once or twice, if that.
This is the internet—people need to manage their expectations when it comes to interactions and not be so sensitive. We're adults talking about toys.

If the first release is any indication I would say noIs Amazon US (via amazon japan) getting the accessories? Though I don't necessarily want to pay 20 bucks shipping for a case...
I would agree if you were talking about the genesis mini 1 but this time the US mini 2 is quite surprising. All the best games are only on the Japanese version. Smart Sega.
The irony that those in Japan had the opportunity to order the English/NA version before Canada did is not lost on me.
For sure. Not that we'll ever know but it would be fun to find out how many of those units were bought up by people outside japan (like me). I'd assume since amazon us isn't sold out still they will shift some units from that allocation back to the amazon jp genesis listing.
So what's the deal with these new previously-unreleased games. Is this a Star Fox 2 situation where they were finished and never manufactured? Were they finished for this purpose? Is it worth it to buy this machine for them?
Neat. The ports don't interest me as much as the new games. I'd hold off to see if they're worthwhile but uh, I dunno how getting ahold of one of these later is gonna be.Additionally:
- Devi to Pii - A game that was made at the time, but never released. Was created by Takashi Iizuka in 1993 before he worked on Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and now lead of Sonic Team.
- Fantasy Zone - Was developed as a fan port by the same guy who did the port of Darius to the Genesis Mini 1. M2 helped finish it up.
- Vs. Puyo Puyo Sun - New development for this specifically, as one of the devs at M2 did the Saturn port back in the day.
- Star Mobile - Mostly complete back in the day but never finished. M2 finished it up here.
- Super Locomotive - M2 Hobbyist porting this arcade game on SEGA System 1 to the Mega Drive. Similar hardware.
- Spatter - M2 Hobbyist porting this arcade game on SEGA System 1 to the Mega Drive. Similar hardware.
- Space Harrier II / Space Harrier - Effectively rebuilds of both games using some unknown new feature to make sprite scaling and ground much better. Dubbed "SEGA Mark V".
- Hellfire: Sega's trailer discusses unspecified "new features and options for the Genesis."
- OutRun: The four in-game radio stations will now include "new [music] tracks not featured in the original."
- Phantasy Star II: The classic RPG now features "adjustable movement speed and a new easy mode."
- Truxton: Comes with a new option to play background music "at its original arcade speed."

Or Eliminate Down. We need a legit way to play this game because it's just too expensive while beeing one of the best horizontal shmup ever

It is truly one of the all-time great game songs out there. Not gonna lie, the song from Ninja Warriors in Taiko no Tatsujin (and also used in the Genesis Mini 2 Games Trailer) has me super hyped to try the game.
Yes. You would think Tokai or whoever owns it would be happy to license this series out since it's just sitting there not making any money.

It's a mystery to me where the rights to Eliminate Down would be. Sega Retro has pages on the developer and publisher but those don't answer what the current situation is.Yeah plus they're a company that still exists in some capacity— not sure who even made, say, eliminate down lol

I'm a Canadian looking for one too. I'd say follow some of the retailers like VGP, PNP and amazon.ca to see when/if they get the listing. All we can do really.
I pre-ordered from amazon.co.jp
Thanks for the link. That's frustrating that they tried but couldn't sort it out.

Yeah for OutRun in particular, I'm pretty sure they're referring to the exclusive tracks that were always in Genesis OutRun.The wording was a little confusing in the trailer but I think they're describing features that make the Genesis ports different to the arcade originals, not new features added for the Mini versions.

I'm so annoyed that Lunar 1 and 2 aren't on the NA version. UGH
Even if they get more it seems they fixed it so that new orders can't be shipped to Canada. I kept checking the website the morning they went live for re-stocks (after hearing that Amazon Japan was shipping the US version to Canada), and saw a couple pop-up's happen with stock. Despite this, they wouldn't ship it to me in Canada.Again I regret not jumping at it while I da the chance. What are the chances the american version will be restocked at Amazon.jp? I went ahead and preordered the japanese version but I dislike the color scheme and have no interest in playing in japanese

So unless you pre-ordered right when they first started and had Canada available in the Countries eligible for shipment, it seems we're out of luck.
