Change is a natural part of life. Good luck to him and I hope Gears Tactics is good.

It's a very vague message, maybe he'll remain in Microsoft but working on other projects?

Whoa that's huge. Very curious to see what changes it brings to the Gears franchise since it was pretty much fully his at this point.

He's been working on the same franchise for over 15 years, not surprised he may want to take a step back from it. Wish him the best of luck moving onward.

Wow. Even though I stopped playing Gears after 3, I liked how he (one of the original devs) became the face of the franchise. Best of luck to him, can't wait to see where he goes and what he does next.

Leaving to oversee Diablo is pretty awesome for him. I wish him well!

Rip. Time for the Gears open world reboot... Diablo and Blizzard are getting a great addition.

Interesting he would leave before they presumably finish the new Gears trilogy.

Farewell GearsViking. Best of luck.

I wonder if this means The Coalition will not be a franchise studio like before and maybe revive Shangheist.

Is that a step up or a step down? Blizzard is such a mess right now I can't even tell.

Good luck to him. He always seemed like a great guy. Maybe it will benefit both sides. Gears might benefit from some change.

Weird move. Probably a "I could stick around and see Gears 6 through for the next 3 years or I could get out now before the next gen craziness starts"move.

Anyway. Its clearly time for the Coalition to make the new IP the studio was created to do in the first place and Gears to go on the shelf. Wrap it up with Gears 6 and move on.

Gears after 3 has been incredibly stale and boring. It needs a long break and a reboot along the line to make it fresh again.
