"The reason I supported Donald Trump was because I thought he was the best for the economy in the United States where a lot of Latinos live, a lot of immigrants who are suffering because of the economy," Nicky Jam – whose birth name is Nick Rivera Caminero – said in a video.

"Never in my life did I think, that one month later there would be a comedian who would criticize my country and speak poorly of my country," he continued. "And for that I withdraw my support of Donald Trump. Puerto Rico should be respected."

In September, the star appeared onstage at a Las Vegas rally with Trump, wearing a red Make America Great Again hat.

At that appearance, Trump awkwardly introduced the singer, perhaps not knowing who he was, calling him to the stage by saying, "She's hot." The Harris campaign seized on that moment, posting, "Nicky Jam is a man."

People either have shitty memories or they don't give a shit until it affects them personally.

I don't give a crap about these assholes, but it's still good news.

Anything that might hinder Trump in any way and lower his chances, is a good thing.

Yup, he's an idiot but I think this continues to show how big of an own goal that MSG rally was. We gotta leave no question that this guy is a loser

crazy that republicans are still viewed as "good for the economy" by know-nothings

It drives me wild. I'll fully claim ignorance on this, but I genuinely don't know why that view is still maintained. Conservative = businessman = better for the economy is a transitional property I've not felt to be accurate for a long time, but especially now where it doesn't feel like any major business is doing well outside of ones that just happened to luck out economically.

You'd be surprised how many Hispanics are dumb as fuck and huge Trump supporters. A lot who make it state side thinks they are "one of the good ones".

I will never understand why some events are lines and others aren't.

There's no reason to believe this isn't 100% disingenuous. This guy has been turned into a laughing stock ever since Trump thought he was a woman and he found an opportunity to save face. He's still a shit heel.

"I thought he'd be good for the economy" is a pretty common cover for people who simply don't want to admit that they like Trump because he's hateful or a bigot or a fake tough guy.

I'm going to explain the context, because I think most people seeing this thread don't realize why this story is so funny.

In the Trump rally earlier this year where this guy went on stage with Trump, Trump called out to him by referring to him as a hot woman. Trump didn't know who Nicky Jam was and just assumed Nicky was a woman.

Donald Trump Mistakenly Introduces Male Latin Singer Nicky Jam at Rally as a Woman: ‘Do You Know Nicky? She’s Hot!’

Donald Trump mistakenly referred to reggaeton singer and supporter Nicky Jam as a woman, saying, 'She's hot!'

If this is the case, then I hope his out influences others.

The irony of a standup comedian making Trump President (Seth Meyers) and a standup comedian now killing his chances.

Bro just wanted the free money now he's using the awful comedians joke as a way to get out. Yeah the scene should just shun him.

It does become hard not to mock these people, especially when it had to come down to the last minute of them calling you garbage.

still absolutely baffled how any latinos got to this after nearly a decade of him threatening mass deportation, building a wall, Trumps treatment of his own Latino workers, etc.

It would be wild if the October surprise that derailed Trump from a win was the Madison Square Garden rally and the puerto rico fallout. Extremely deserving but so unexpected and unpredictable.

Anything that keeps the MSG rally in the news cycle the week before the election is good, even if it's for something stupid like this.

I mean, I think for a certain type of voter, they could look past the previous crap because it was about "other people" and he wasn't "talking about them" - he was talking about the "illegals," the "criminals", the "poor" etc., and maybe they even agreed with his viewpoints! Whereas part of the reason I think this particular insult is breaking through is because there are no restrictions to it - it's a short blatant insult to an entire island, no distinction by socioeconomic status - and it was captured in a few short seconds on video in front of a Trump/Vance sign, easily shared on social media.

It's a direct insult to many people's pride, and sometimes that's the kind of thing that cuts past all the noise of policy arguments, he said/she said, news analysis, etc. and just makes a whole bunch of people want to say "fuck you" in response.

Great points.
yeah i'll take it. the amount of "fuck you"s has been heartwarming lol

I'm already recalling some news clip of voters Early Voting because of that comment.
