I wouldn't necessarily use Zoom for the workplace. But where it excels is quick conferencing without everyone needing an account, you can just send a link (with password if needed) to a couple dozen people and schedule something. For personal use I'm not sure you need end to end encryption, the convenience trumps that (now if they're recording your meetings, that's something else entirely). For business use where you already have licenses and security constraints, of course there are better alternatives that are blessed by the company security policies.
