Holy shit...my Kohls PS5 bundle actually shipped! And used my $360 kohls cash to get most of one my daughter's xmas lists done...was a pretty good day!
To course correct a little bit, for those that bought at Best Buy, I was curious if you ran into stock troubles at local stores on checkout and how you were able to purchase after that? I.e. did you just search until you found one, keep trying for stock to re-pop in your preferred stores? Somebody even mentioned finding a store for the sale then correcting the pick-up to a closer location afterwards?!

After getting that Best Buy message that my order couldn't be shipped I chatted with the online help center nothing. They told me to call the store but I couldn't get through. Went in person they told me all the orders got cancelled but they have them in store if I wanted to buy it because I had my order number. So I GOT IT now have a PS5!

...wtf there's no way this is what's happening on a national scale right? They're literally be fucking early customers in favor of later customers, and literally undoing their covid preventative measures in which they're encouraging all this curbside pickup.

I dont know but I literally spent half the day trying to get this thing today my pick up date was today. The reason she told me was so off hand and odd I was like OK why wouldn't i get notified that my order is actually in the store for pick up and why would it get canceled. At that point I didn't care just give me my PS5 lol

My order got pushed back again to December 25th. But I called best buy and they told me it would be here November 30.

Im also assuming what you are and that they were trying to see who didn't show up for theirs and fully cancel the order to either sell them in store or keep for employees to buy. Mainly because if I hadn't checked my online order I wouldn't even know what was happening with my order never got a text or email on the status. But that's just me going to the darkest assumption.
I'm glad you got your PS5. It's a hassle that you need to call CS about it. I just ordered the Series X and they better not cancel it.
I would just keep logging in daily keep an eye on the status of it. When I ordered my PS5 I got in relatively early so I knew for sure my order went through. It should be fine could have been some one off thing since my order hold and cancelation wasn't the same as what I was seeing online from others.
After reading about people getting lucky with walking into Walmart to buy a PS5 decided to make a trip to one of the local ones near me and struck out. Got the "online only" line. I did get the clerk to admit they had some in the back, but said they couldn't sell them.

Hmm, I'm gonna be watching the stock closely at the store I just went to between now and Wednesday. One of the stores near me updated their stock from 6+ to "Out of Stock" just today. I'm guessing that means all the people who got orders in Wednesday picked up their consoles.
Mine still says "Preparing order", which is what it's said since Wednesday. The little progress bar moved up today, whatever that means.

Local pickup, at a specific store that's had "6+" in stock since before Wednesday, and still has the same 6+.
Games? You seem to be conveniently forgetting the PlayStation Consoles have games that people enjoy, really good critically acclaimed games. Sony have the second most published Game of the Year Wards nominees next to what Nintendo had a few years ago. People enjoy Sony's games and PlayStation exclusives, many of which you can only play on PlayStation, thus, the thirst.
THen you can add to that a new PlayStation controller that is getting lots of hype. It is just different enough to really make a difference in some games and I think some people either appreciate it or just want to get their hands on that controller and try it too!

It's been called out several times, but the fact that people will persist in responding to the claims made will eventually devolve into some stupid shit.

Man, I've seen more mentions of Fred Meyer in this one thread today than I've seen on the entirety of the internet in every other day of my life.
Are these bot programs scalpers are using free / inexpensive? I REALLY want to find one for my brother, but after weeks of trying I've come up empty over a dozen times between all major retailers.

Guy on another forum I frequent said he walked into a Wal-Mart today and was able to get one off the shelf....well technically the associate had to get it for him but it was in stock nontheless.

No. They're not gonna let other people use them and give themselves less to scalp. There are scripts to refresh/ add to cart but whatever they're using is next level.
Damn WTH? Why would it take so long to get the order ready for pickup when they have the console in the store? No rhyme or reason.

Never free. They usually run $300 or so. Besides, it's never a guarantee that you would secure a PS5/XSX with a bot because then you would be competing against other bots.

That's exactly what's pissing me off about this. If I have the chance, I'll ask them at the store (whenever I actually get to go pick it up) how long they've been there and why I didn't get the call sooner.
The last time I bought something for pick up at Best Buy (which was on Tuesday, I think), the web site told me it would be ready in an hour (default answer) and I got the notification ten minutes later that it was ready. I hadn't even put my shoes on yet.
Granted, Wal-Mart's site doesn't list inventory or say that the unit is in stock for pick up "today". So I can only assume one of two things:
1) There is no stock, and the "6+" thing is either bullshit or Brickseek's system is just plain broken. Probably the latter, since it seems to show the same result for every store.
or
2) Wal-Mart's in-store pickup system is absolute garbage and no one at my local store is as yet aware that my order exists.
or
3) All of the above. Which is probably the case. They don't have them, and don't have any idea when the individual store will actually get them, so they have no way of giving me an estimate of when they'll have it, beyond "sometime this week".
I was supposed to pick up the Xbox today and the PS5 tomorrow. I just got the email about the Xbox and now I'm assuming I won't get the PS5 tomorrow either.
Think the delays are PS5s and new inventory was Series S/X
