I was literally replying to you in previous thread because you were saying that for "you" 9.2tf was not enough for some buyers to be there day one. And then throughout your conversation with other posters who questioned that rationale. Even other posters mentioned price as being the "casual" driving force.
This is the first post you responded to and our first encounter. That was not about 9.2tf not being enough for some buyers. Of course price is the "casual" driving force. Why would i refute that? That would just be silly. Since English is not my first language i probably need to explain what i think the difference is between causal and hardcore.
An casual person will buy a system when the price is right (that is not static so it depends) and the content is there. An hardcore person will buy something at a higher price because they have a lust for extras (power, features, memory, etc) even if the content is still not there to take advantage off it. The difference can only be a couple of percentage but for them it's worth the extra price. For example: RTX 2080 = 1.267€ compared to an RTX 2060 = 386€. You can play games on both and it will look stunning but only 1 type of person would buy the far more expensive one. Now of course with consoles the differences are far more reasonable and it's also not a apple to apple comparison. Perhaps a better comparison would be memory. One is 16gb for 100€ and the other is 200€ even through the differences are minimal and perhaps not noticeable.
If i remember correctly (the conversation you are referring to) that was not about that price isn't important but that people will move over without any consideration for anything else because Sony created something and that no one will look at other systems. That 100 mil people will just buy Sony because Sony. I think it was something about 6TF is all that is needed for Sony to succeed. Is it really that weird for me to think that Sony needs to do more than just to exist to get people to buy their system and do as well as they do now (100mil +)?
But looking at where we are in terms of the tech being put into these machines, even if it ended up being 10tf it's still pretty wild, and worth while for a lot of first time early adopters.
Sure, i don't disagree with that and i don't think i ever said different. What i said was
for me and some other people that would not be enough to buy the system day one and that i don't want them to succeed that way because i want them to make powerful systems(more powerful than they normally would). Is it selfish? Of course it is. Its also not going to be reality :). But that doesn't mean i can't selfishly hope that they will go beyond themselves and create a very powerful system.
Sorry if I came off a certain way, i was reading some of your earlier posts in that thread, and when you started talking about things that should be bannable I THINK I jumped the shark and saw you talking about hardcore/vs TF and early adopters.
You don't need to apologize about anything. It's fine, its not that serious. For me this is just a conversation about a hobby we both enjoy.
Yeah you are missing a bit of context there. That comment was about a time were users were misquoting people and putting words in their mouth. Some were really paraphrasing to fit a narrative and not just quoting the whole sentence.Insider a said that, insider b said that but if you actually look at what they said they were leaving little things out to fit a narrative. It went so far that jschreier had to come in and correct people on what he actually said. But hey, if you think that's ok than good for you. I don't, but whatever.
My comment is not about hardcore vs TF and early adaptors.. Most of the people that buy systems day one will buy it day one. But that does not mean that they will buy PS5 day one. Perhaps they will go to a different system first. Who knows. My comment that you responded to is only about what Sony/insiders/reporters are telling us compared to the github leak and why i think there is more to that story than it looks like.
I think i did very well with writing so much while having too much to drink and seeing blurry. I think I'm addicted to reading era lol.
