At what point does a single member of the GOP get some courage and attack back? I know Romney has the respect of quite a few GOP Senators and he wouldn't stand alone. Would he?

It's very smart and 5-D chess to attack the handful of human beings standing between you and a prison cell.

op needed to have the pic of Romney dining with him trying to become secretary of state haha

i will never forget that image

he will literally attack anyone that speaks out against him, which is going to be the defense that most of them will use when he does get tossed out of office and people question why they stayed silent for so long.

Seriously if polls to remove from office go to 60+%, a lot of light leans red senate seats would flip to save their asses. How many are up for vote in 2020?

He's scared. He knows Romney will lead the revolt against Trump when they eventually turn on him.

Am I supposed to feel bad for, or supportive of, Mitt? 'Cause I'm incapable of either.

He's attacking someone for speaking out against him. He's attacking someone who will ultimately be his jury when he is impeached.

So yes this is bad, regardless of how you feel about the Republican Party.

rofl yes do everything you can to further incite the lawful evil wing of your party that is fed up with you constantly bullhorning the quiet parts on the build up to impeachment and elections.

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, calling a member of his own party, Mitt Romney, a pompous ass, publicly on Twitter. Interesting times lol.

There is a small chance the Senate removes, say 5 percent, and if it happens, Romney will be leading the removal effort among Republicans. Trump is just hardening him even more against him.

Romney going to stand up for himself or continue to be a spineless wimp?
Let's find out!
To be fair, Romney is the closest on the republican evolutionary chain to develop something that mimic's a spine. It's pretty wiggly, wobbly, but maybe it'll start to coalesce into some actual vertebrae.

For other Senators, though...

Several words in those tweets that let you know someone wrote them for him. Imagine Trump using or even knowing the word pompous.

The Republican Party deserves trump. They're perfect for each other.

Have to agree. They've been fostering this attitude within their base that likes a personality like Trump. Fostering them to ignore any real news and only listen to them, fostering the racism, fostering the idea that some how catering to the corporations and rich powerful people will some how benefit the little guy, fostering the idea that rich people are the ones to listen to, fostering the idea that educated people are against them, fostering people against science. Trump is just a symptom of the Republican Party. And if we really want to solve the problem, the Republican party needs to become an ineffective third party at best. Sadly that means getting the more moderate republicans to break away and form their own party (Which they don't want to do cause that makes them weaker... but a reasonable other party might actually get some more moderate democrats as well as I'm sure there are plenty of democrats right now that just can't vote republican).

The REpublican Party is the problem, Trump is just the inevitable symptom. And for now we should count ourselves "lucky" he's so incompetant... not that he still isn't doing a lot of damage with the GOP's help (once again, they're the problem). Get rid of Trump, the republican party will just find some other horrible person, and worse, this person might be better at getting stuff they want done. Get rid of the Party, trump has no chance cause they are the reason he's lasted so long.

Mitt is probably one of the most insulated Senators and the fact he has been so meek with his criticism is pathetic. He will take this and keep it moving.
