Real-time strategy games (RTS) are commonly known to be one of the hardest and most challenging genres to develop on consoles (no K&M, technical reasons, lack of interest from companies, etc...). Although there are few RTS on consoles, most of them turned out great at the end.

Who do you think made the best job among that list (if you played any) ?

Halo Wars (2009 / 2017)
Xbox 360 / Xbox One
Ensemble Studios / Creative Assembly / 343 Industries

Pikmin is my preferred favorite, but Halo Wars is probably the best traditional RTS adapted to console.

Tooth and tail is not in the poll and I started playing that a few months ago and love the multiplayer. Super easy to learn and control so the focus lies on the actual strategy part.

Actually enjoyed Endwar quite a bit and Halo Wars is also pretty fun.

I'd say Pikmin is the best if that is categorised as one. Easily the most intuitive on a controller.

Endwar was a really cool game, I wish it could have been the start of something. It was pretty ingenious, it wouod have been interesting to see sequels or other games build up on its foundations. I wanted to replay it a while back, sadly both Xbox 360 mics I could get my hands on were dead.

Halo Wars. No question about it. Ensemble really outdid themselves when it came to simplifying the controls.
Goblin Commander did it before. Still both games are very simplyfied to work on consoles. RTS and Controller is just a very bad match.

That said: Dune 2 on Mega Drive was my jam back then. It will always be remembered fondly.

I think the poll results are good. It's hard to vote against Pikmin and Halo Wars in this category for consoles. I picked Pikmin here.

I do remember having fun with the LOTR game though. It's been years but I remember really liking it.

Halo Wars was a more impressive feat as it's the closest thing to a PC RTS that works on consoles. Pikmin is a better console game but Halo Wars is a better RTS.

The first Halo Wars was so good it even made me play an RTS and I hate them.

It also made an RTS on console actually work well.

So it gets my vote comfortably. Having said that, I didn't enjoy 2 much.

Halo Wars is pretty good but the answer here is obviously Pikmin. It's a legit contender for GOAT RTS in general, you don't need to limit the conversation to consoles only for it to actually stand a chance, unlike Halo Wars.
Pikmin 2 and 3 are both near flawless.

My vote would probably go for Pikmin, but I liked the Battalion Wars games a lot for what they were. I'd be down to play more polished takes on that particular breed of RTS, something that more or less bridges the gap between the more traditional concept of an RTS and the more action focus you get from musou games.

It's Pikmin, but RUSE is a real gem that I feel went sorely unappreciated when it came out. I had a ton of fun with it.

Forgot to include Battalion Wars. These were underrated games that went under the radar. The formula deserved to be refined (but I guess it's as dead as Advance Wars now...).
